Luke's POV
My eyes were so dry as I woke up. I looked towards the window and saw that it was slightly dark out.
Had I been asleep for that long?
"Lukey?"
I whipped my head to look at the door and saw my mum, her eyes red and wet. I felt my lip tremble as I felt more tears coming.
"Mum.."
I whined, reaching my arms out for her. She immediately ran over and hugged me tight.
"You're scaring me, my baby.."
Her voice was shaky as she whispered in my ear.
"I'm sorry.."
"Don't be sorry, silly.. I just don't wanna lose you.."
She pulled away and examined my face.
"I love you, honey.. I know you can heal from this.."
I started to cry as she pet my hollow cheek with her thumb.
"I'm.. gonna try.."
I blinked more to stop the tears as my head hurt from the relentless sobbing a few hours ago.
"Where's Mr. Irwin?"
"He's with Dr. Frank.. They're setting up a room for you with a hospital Mr. Irwin runs.. I discussed it with them and they agreed to let you have visitors. Also a kid called asking about you. Michael is his name?"
My attempts to stop crying were useless as I began too again. I completely forgot about Mikey.
"He's my friend from school.. I probably worried him.."
"He can visit when you get set up, okay?"
I nodded simply, trying to stop crying again. There was a sudden knock at the door that caused me to jump.
"Sorry for scaring you, Luke."
It was Mr. Irwin which brought me alot of comfort.
"Is everything okay?"
My mum asked as Dr. Frank walked in with his clipboard that had alot more papers than last time.
"Well we got the tests back a few hours ago and seeing how everyone is here and.. awake."
He playfully glaced at me to which I softly smiled back.
"Luke, me and Mr. Irwin have discussed your actions and mental health and we do believe you're showing symptoms of Anorexia Nervousa."
My heart sunk at that. I really wasn't healthy at all.
"And due to the severity and slight denial of this, we are keeping you inpatient for quite a bit."
"How long?"
I asked quickly, still in absolute shock.
"Could be anywhere from at least 9 months to 2 years."
I heard my mum let out a sob. I really didn't think it was this bad.
"It's for the safety of your health. We may experience issues or roadblocks in your recovery but we will help."
I looked at Mr. Irwin, no longer finding comfort in Dr. Frank. He had his arm around my mum and letting her cry.
He looked at me and frowned slightly.
"I.. I didn't think it was this bad.."
I choked out. Everything that everyone has been saying was right. I'm not healthy and that was so scary for me.
"It's pretty bad, Luke. If you are compliant with the treatment, you will recover from this."
I simply nodded with nothing to say.
"We are fixing to transport you to Mr. Irwin's hospital. You are immediately going on movement restriction so little to no walking, running or moving. We will be taking you through an ambulance. Do you understand?"
"Yeah.."
I was scared to say the least. I looked at Mr. Irwin and he was looking at me with a soft look, it was reassuring.
"Are my grades gonna be plummeted?"
He chuckled and shook his head.
"That's the last thing you should be worried about, Luke. Your grades are fine."
I knew that I'd be in good hands at least, with someone I trusted and having visitors.
But deep down I knew one thing, I wasn't ready.
