At supper, I sat beside her. Unfortunately, Matron was sitting beside Trix. It wasn't easy to talk to her while we were eating with Matron beside her. My face turned pale when remembering the first time I talked at supper. She wasn't even hurt me physically nor mentally, but the thought of wanting to through it all over again never come to my mind.
Wait... but, I didn't remember making her mad in these three days before that accident.
Then, an interesting thought came to me.
Maybe... If I can make her mad, there's a chance that it changed the future?
I shook the idea out from my head.
Too risky and careless... I don't even know how much I can push her into the edge. In other side, do I really want to disappoint her again?
While I was scaling between benefits and consequences in my mind, Trix nudged me under the table. At first, I didn't know why she did that until my eyes looked around to see that everyone already here. They sat around the table while waiting for Matron to start the pray before the dinner. A sign that the supper almost began.
Secretly, I hold her hand then writing 'thank you' on her palm. Her silver eyes were rolling after meeting mine, then she turned her head to the other side. A knock on the table can be heard for everyone as Matron clasped her hand. A few minutes later, everyone did the same her, including me.
The hall became silently serene. I closed my eyes and prayed in my heart.
Oh, the almighty God, if you heard me, please... Bless our foods and drinks so we can live for another day...
After praying to each of our respective gods, the supper was quiet as some children whispered among themselves. My best friend and I had agreed to remain silent as two of the oldest orphans. No one can take a risk if you've seen Matron's anger once.
An hour already passed. Not too slowly nor too quickly, everyone finished their supper. I thought it was time for me to ask my best friend. Yet, Trix still remained tight-lipped about it even though Matron had left the dining hall after supper. Unfortunately, she left the hall after cleaning her dishes.
Sigh... It seems that the god of fortune didn't look at me yet. This is bad, I'm starting to doubt if my mission to change the future will go well. Please, God. Let me know why Trix need to go to Matron's office.
I decided to clean my dishes before going after her. While washing the dishes, my eyes kept going back to the hall's door. Thank goodness, my hands didn't betray me, so no broken plates at my side. I even got Nanny to congratulated me with some head pats.
Never mind, I took my words back. The god offortune just fulfil my other wishes first before my recent wish. Thank you foryour blessing, my God.
