In front of the palace, people crowded to see the execution of a criminal. They chanted her name repeatedly as a celebration. Every time they did that, a heart was stabbed by guilt and sorrow. My eyes kept holding the water inside them, yet I already felt drowned and breathless.
Needing to gasp for air, I sneakily hid myself from the crowds and hid between the walls. Suddenly, the sound of the cheers became more joyful than before. Curious about what they had seen, I braved myself to peek.
There she was. The navy blue-haired girl with both of her hands cuffed with ropes.
She looked thinner than the last time we saw each other. Her silver eyes were still beautiful, but hatred and fatigue dimmed the shininess in them. The soldier dragged her to the guillotine and put her in the holes. Many people were cursing her, and some of them threw rotten food toward the guillotine. Moreover, she was so calm in this situation.
When I was mesmerized by her serenity, the king gave a speech to the people.
"To all of my beloved people, thank you for gathering here. Today is the execution of a criminal who took several people's lives. Because of her sins, many people suffered the loss of their precious ones. At last, she was captured, and this will be the end of her. Let's celebrate her death, everyone!"
The sound of clapping hands becomes more difficult to ignore after his speech. Everyone was happy to hear someone would die for their safety, except me. It's suffocating.
Overwhelmed by the cheers, I ran away.
Several minutes later, my feet stopped after bringing me nowhere. There was no one here, only walls and darkness. Wanting to escape from this place, I sprinted again. Unfortunately, something was on my way.
"Ouch..." I grimaced on the ground as my eyes couldn't stop dropping water.
A pale hand was held out to me as a gentle voice reached out to me, "Are you okay?"
My eyes looked up and were stunned to see a beautiful blonde-haired woman extending her hand. She has a pale skin and blue eyes, just like a description of an angel in one of the fantasy books I read for Natasha's bedtime story. The beautiful woman then leaned down as she smiled toward me.
"I apologize forour collision, my dear. My name is Philautia. May I know your name?"
