After searching where's the next chore we had to do this morning while vomiting blood in the bathroom for almost two hours, my hands rushed to open the warehouse's door. Breathless, I leaned to the door to rest for a while. Every eye stared upon me, but I don't care. It's already hurt my physical being to run over a place, I'm not going to hurt my emotional health too.
My ears picked up some walking steps. I glanced to the side as the steps stopped in front of me. It's the chore leader, my best friend. I instantly gulped when Trix crossed her arms, glaring at me with that silver eyes of hers.
"You're late for an hour and fifteen minutes, what do you say on this?"
I straightened my back to be polite as my arm saluted, "Yes, leader. I apologize for being late."
"Stop joking, Viona. Just tell me why are you late today?" Trix frowned as she massaged her forehead.
"Mmh," I smiled sheepishly, "Will you be mad if I said I forgot where we assigned to?"
Her silver eyes widened then she clicked her tongue. I flinched in fear when she leaned toward me. Suddenly, she gently grabbed my wrist and gazed at my eyes intently. My heart beat so fast that I almost passed out.
"That's it," Trix mumbled under her breath, "you're coming with me."
My best friend smiled as she turning to face the chore group, "please continue the chores. I have to punish someone right now."
Everyone gulped as their expression turned pale. I also wore the same face as them when I noticed Trix's smirking like a devil. My hand couldn't stop trembled in hers. She sighed as she continued her command.
"If I find there's a spot that's still dirty, you know what I will do to you. Right?"
Her thumb slowly moved straight in front her neck as her silver eyes glared toward the massive of teenagers and children. Everyone started to do their job diligently. Satisfied that her threat worked so well, the navy-haired girl dragged me out from the warehouse.
After walking some distance from where we were assigned, Trix cornered me behind an abandoned brick wall. This place was so quiet that I could only heard my heartbeat going fast. Her pale hand still strongly grabbed mine as her eyes glared at me. It was almost breathless to see the silver eyes mimicked a diamond, sharp yet alluring to have.
After some time, my best friend loosened her grip as she strictly gazed at me.
"Viona."
"Yes?" My cheeks reddened as my eyes tried to hide my shyness, "what is it, Trix?"
Her eyes soothed as soon as I responded to her calling my name. It was strange to see her gazes softened this quickly. Yet, it somewhat more comforting than the tensed eyes that I saw earlier. The next thing I knew, she closed our distance while her hand gently placing mine on the wall. "I want you to tell me the real reason why were you late this morning."
My body was frozen as I answered, "what do you mean? I wasn't lying about getting lost to where we assigned."
"Liar," she gripped my hand tighter, "I knew that you're not even at your bed before I woke up. Don't even forget that we were sleeping at the same room."
I bit my lip, not expecting that she knew I was gone, even noticed the time when I was gone from my bedroom.
"So? Where were you when I was still asleep?" She loosened her hand grip softly.
My head gazed on the ground, "s-something happened so I-I had to go to the bathroom."
In all of my life, the Trix I knew, never lose it when there's a reasonable reason. She also always brushed it aside when I told her a white lie. This is too strange and scary at the same time. I don't even know why I was lying this time.
