After finishing lunch, I sprinted on my way to our beloved general stores. My chest still hurt, yet I couldn't stop feeling more energetic than before. The effect of being hopeful to the future was really impactful to my mood. On the way to the market, I couldn't stop being relieved as I successfully escaped from my friends' gazes.
Phew, that's a close one... Thank goodness, I left the orphanage as soon as the lunch time over.
I was in such a rush that I didn't even say goodbye to my best friend. I hope that she didn't notice my sudden absence.
Trix would be nagging me to get back to rest if she knew that I'm still doing the chores. Yet, I don't mind if she's thinking about me though...
Believing that made me feel shameful. Trix had already told me not to depend on her anymore. Yet here I am, still believing that she needed me. My eyes were tearing, and my hand was busy wiping them out. Instead of grieving any further, I continued strolling past people and groceries. Several minutes already passed, I got all the things on the list. My eyes checked to see if it was crowded today. Thank goodness, there was no queue for the cashier, so I could immediately pay and finish my errand. I couldn't wait to go home and play with my younger one, Natasha.
Suddenly, I felt someone is staring at my back. When my head turns around, I can't believe my eyes. A boy with dirty blonde hair and purple eyes waved his hand gently toward me. He approached me slowly, "Hello, Viona. It's a coincidence to see you here," he said with a smile.
Is that Philip? Philip Velia? Wow, it's been a really long time that I don't quite remember his face. Should I try to confirm it?
"Good afternoon, Philip. I haven't seen you in a long time. Is your dad still keeping you busy?"
"Ahaha..." Philip laughed nervously, "You got me there. Our shop is getting busy with June's orders. How about you?"
Phew! That's a nice one, Viona!
"As you can see," I said, pointing to the basket in my hand, "Matron assigned me an errand. I just have to pay for it now."
A pair of purple eyes stared at my basket, worried, "Is it heavy?"
"Don't worry, it's lighter than what it seemed."
"I see," he said, looking around, "so... where is Trix? It's rare to see you alone without her."
"Matron said that Trix wanted to go somewhere else," I tried to keep a smile on my face and continued, "but... She didn't know where she would be."
Something sparkled in his purple eyes. "Then, do you want to go home with me?"
"Sure, I guess?" I replied with uncertainty.
He smiled and responded, "Great! I'm happy to be your companion, Lady Viona."
"Me too, Philip."
We put a halt to our conservation in order to pay our bills. As always, Philip forgot to bring more cashes. He begged me to lend him some money. Honestly, I didn't want to. Yet, I gave in to his plea and paid one gold coin for him.
It's hard to ignore his puppy eyes while resisting the pain in my chest.
After all of that, we're going home with our things. Philip kept talking about his homework, classmates, teachers, and his dad's customers on the way home. I listened while sometimes nodding to his peep talk. It's entertaining for me because it kept me away from the discomfort I have right now.
Yet, my mind is still going to one certainperson.
