Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the shopping district. Trix is the one who carries the wallet this time. I was hoping that this was my turn. Unfortunately, our Matron had different ideas.
"I'm sorry, Viona. Matron already signed me for today's wallet," she said with a triumphant smile.
"Hmm-mm," I grumbled, "sure... even though tomorrow isn't your birthday, but mine."
Suddenly, she stopped on her track and pulled me into a deserted alley. Subsequently, her silver eyes kept an eye on people, and then she held both of my shoulders to the wall. My heart was beating fast and freezing at the same time.
Did I do something that made her mad?
As if she wanted to answer the question in my head, her silver eyes watched every move I made. When she was done, her cold hand caressed my cheek while massaging my hand with the other one.
She sighed, "Matron was right. You've already grown so much these past years."
I gulped down my own anxiety while trying to deny it, "That's-That's not true-true at all."
Her silver eyes widened, then she smiled.
"Never mind," Trix said, patting both of my shoulders, "I guess there's still some part of you that never changes."
She untangled me from her clutch, making me breathe more easily now.
"By the way, were you denying it so you could still be spoiled by others?"
"O-Of course not!"
A giggle slipped out of her mouth. It's rare to see her have trouble holding her laugh. As a result, my thoughts were full of her now.
"Well, I didn't mind it if that was the case."
Wait, what?
"Forget what I said," she said as her hand gripped mine, "let's continue our shopping."
"Hold—" I couldn't finish my sentence as she dragged me out of the alley.
The words that coming out from my best friend's made me thinking about our whole conservation with Matron. Trix was so adamant that I don't get spoiled by our orphanage's owner, yet she said that she doesn't mind about me being spoiled.
Did my ears trick me??
I sighed as I walked along side my blue-haired and silver-eyed best friend.
I guess I need to listen more carefully next time.
