I woke up with confusion. Around me is my bedroom, and it's already dark outside. My hands clutched the white blanket that wrapped me softly.
Trix is nowhere to be seen.
One by one, my tears overflowed. I'm trying to stop it before anyone comes in, yet it's harder than I thought. Shortly, there was a knocking sound outside of my room. Afraid of revealing this weak side of mine to anyone, I hide inside my blanket.
The door opened, and someone was going in. My nose picks up the smell of stew and freshly baked bread. They put it on the table near me. Then, a hand caressed my head carefully.
"Viona, are you awake?"
"Mmh..." I muttered while wiping my tears, "is that you, Trix?"
"Yes. Now, get up and eat your food before it becomes cold," my best friend said, handing me a bowl of stew with bread, "I don't want to go back to the kitchen at night."
I held the bowl and ate the stew carefully in bed, "Thank you."
Trix only nodded and sat beside me. She took one bowl and also started eating. It's strangely comforting even though Trix and me only eating together silently.
Time passed slowly until both of our bowls are empty.
After not feeling fully full anymore, I excused myself to clean dishes in the bathroom. Trix offered to accompany me but I refused.
"Why? You always ask me to go with you."
"You already tired from this evening so... Please, just wait for me here."
Trix gazed at me mysteriously, then she sighed.
"Alright. Just go back after cleaning them."
I nodded as I leave my room to the bathroom beside the hall. The way to the bathroom is long and bright because of the moonlight. I enjoyed myself walking alone like this while sorting my thoughts for tomorrow. When I entered the bathroom, there was no one there. I quickly clean the dishes and my hands in the sink.
Suddenly, I felt pain in my chest. My legs became so weak that they couldn't stand anymore. Both of my hands leaned toward the mirror, keeping me from tumbling. It hurt so bad that I vomited into the sink repeatedly.
Without caring, the torture continues until my tongue tastes iron inside. While trembling, I glanced at the mirror. There was a pathetic face with a red taint on her jaws. The white sink flooded with the same red stain. This agony made me remember something important in the forbidden book.
The side effects have just begun.
