When the door widely opened, the fire had already spread at the hallway. My body almost melted abnormally. Because of that, I thought I could extinguish the fire myself. Quietly, I enchanted a spell while my left hand pointed to one flame that burning the wall. Then, a strong water poured from my hand and fell on top of it. But...
There's something wrong about this situation. The fire isn't extinguished even after I used the five-tier water spell I know, just like-
I gasped in realization.
The sacrificial blaze.
The thought of it made me sick. Whoever wants to sacrifice an entire orphanage is not a person with good intentions. I know it very well as my last job dealt with this kind of person.
I didn't think I would encounter them again...
Natasha suddenly stopped my train of thought and asked, "Can this fire be extinguished, Viona?"
I shook my head.
"I'm afraid not," I patted her auburn head and continued, "don't worry though. I have another way to do it."
"Then, can you put me down?"
I shook my head again.
"I'm sorry. It's dangerous to walk in, the fire can hurt you more than usual."
"More than an ouchie?"
"More than an ouchie," I replied sternly.
Her small mouth pouted, "Okay. If you said so, Viona."
"Good girl," I praised her with a smile, "thank you for trusting me, Natasha."
I activated my area scan skill while getting out from here, to see if anyone else were still inside. According to what I see, almost everyone was outside, except for the four dots beside us. I don't know if I should be relieved or not. Let's just be grateful that I didn't need to spend all of my remaining mana and had more time to recharge.
"Natasha, can you close your eyes? I'm afraid the ashes will hurt your eyes."
The blue eyes blinked, "What will you do?"
"We need to run, there's something I have to do right now."
Natasha closed her eyes, and then said, "I'm ready!"
My head nuzzled hers as a praise that she's doing a good job at taking my instructions. After taking a breath and enhancing my step, I ran through the flame to the two nearby dots. Natasha was holding on tight to me while my hand protected her eyes. I couldn't count how many times the blaze and ashes pricked my skin and how my mouth wanted to throw up the blood again. Yet, there's only one thing on my mind.
I don't want to feel regret anymore.
