The sunshine lit my room with its warm gaze. Birds wake me up from nightmares and sing their praises to this beautiful morning. My hand sensed something hugging me from behind. I rolled over to see my best friend keeping her promise and still asleep.
Not to be creepy, but Trix is cute even when she doesn't smile in her sleep. It's a rare thing between us, as she usually wakes up first.
Ah, how great it would be if I could wake up beside her every morning.
My body was shivering at the thought. Trix always wakes up at six in the morning. Whether it's raining, snowing, or burning our skin, she will wake up at the same time. At the other hand, sure, I could wake up early like this. But, doing that every day?
Never mind, six in the morning still too early for me. Maybe, at least, one day in a week?
I snuggled back under the blanket. It's warm enough for both of us. This is what I missed from my childhood, a comfortable bed with my best friend beside me.
Thirty minutes later, she opened her eyes slowly. Like a normal thing to do, I greeted her with a smile.
"Good morning, Trix. How was your sleep?"
Sadly, she's greeting me back with a pillow and screams. Struggling as my body almost fell out of bed, I panicked and held her hand before my bottom touched the wooden floor.
"Calm down, Trix. It's me, Viona."
Her silver eyes blinked at me, trying to recognize me. Finally, it hit her.
"Oh," she said as she stopped hitting me with a pillow, then she pulled me from the edge.
"Viona, why are you here?"
"What do you mean? We are at my room. Did you forget that we slept together like you promised last night?"
"Oh... I forgot about it," Trix tidied up her navy bed hair, "I thought this was my room."
"Really?"
"Yeah. You woke up before me too. So... I was surprised to see you beside me," she apologized as she brushed my hair.
"I'm sorry."
"It's alright, " I smiled while turning around after she's done with my hair.
"Anyway, how was last night?"
She rubbed her eyelids sleepily, "you meant what I was talking about with Matron?"
As my hands tried to help wake her up, I continued my question.
"Yes. It appeared to me that you and Matron had a serious conversation. What were you and Matron talking about?"
As if she's fully awake, my best friend is smirking, "do you want to know?"
"Yes. Didn't you listen me? I want to know what did you talk about with Matron."
"It's nothing special," she blinked, "We were just talking about my parents."
Trix's parents?
That topic never came up for me. There was no evidence of my best friend ever discussing it with anyone else, and there is no information about them even before I returned to the past. This is my chance to learn more information.
I clenched my blanket and mumbled, "I want to know them too."
She blinked again and asked, "Why?"
"You rarely talk about your parents," I answered with a pout, "wouldn't I be curious about them?"
The silver eyes gazed at me with clenched teeth. I thought she was going to be angry at me, but she's back to her usual smile.
"All right, I will tell you later."
"Promise?"
She sighed, "Only if you can wait until we finish our chores."
"I'll try," I said, putting on an innocent smile to keep my curiosity at bay.
"Good girl," Trix stroked my head gently, "I'm going to tell you something great later."
Hearing that, my mind is full of many things that I can't show to anyone.
Was she flirting with me? Oh no, my cheeks feel warm now. Perverted thoughts, don't come near me. I still want her to be with me. Don't do anything that makes her hate me!
"So? What do you want to do today?"
"Eh? Ah, um. Can we go to the shopping district?" My eyes can't focus on her face,
I wish that this feeling went away so we could talk properly.
"Sure. I think we should talk about my parents in a private place, so we can go to the white bridge later."
Trix smiled and asked, "Anything else?"
The pillow hid my face for a while.
"No. I'm already satisfied. Thank you for sharing your time with me, Trix."
"You're welcome. Now, we have to get ready before Matron scolds us."
Myhead nodded as it was already a quarter past six—almost time to do our chores. In a hurry, we made the bed and brushed our hair before running off to Matron'sfamous place to discipline her kids.
