I had a thought
But it escaped me,
Who knows when my mind will retrieve it.
My heart is in absolute agony,
I can't get you out of my head.
I'm alone in my thoughts,
Safe in my thoughts
Then here you come walking by.
It's usually only for a second or two.
Then after a while you decide to leave
And then you're gone.
But your presence lingers.
Can you just not allow me to move on?
But it's me who lets you in
Me, who allows you to linger in my thoughts.
Sometimes I'm sitting on a porch,
And you're holding my hand.
Other times on on a date,
And am struck by the thought of how I could ever love another man.
Most times I'm laying on the grass,
And you're blocking my sun.
Because there's no light when you're gone,
So I must have none.
You are this beings keeper,
Possessing the myths of her soul.
Your a ghost to me,
No matter how many years that I grow grey and old
I had a thought when I was younger,
A thought that was far beyond my fucking control.
