Life's unfaithful
Unrelenting and unkind
It's absolutely undeniable
That'll flip at the drop of a dime
Just like the friends you used to know
The car you thought was unbreakable
The girl you dated twenty years ago
Just like them life is unfaithful
Life's unfaithful
Uncertain and Unfair
A family so dysfunctional
Sixteen living in my own care
Surfing and skipping school
Drinking till I was alcohol full
Following my own twisted rules
You see life really is unfaithful
Life's unfaithful
Unwilling and unsympathetic
My girlfriend pretty but deceitful
It's the reason we never wedded
'Please marry me!' She cried.
A love that could've been beautiful
Then she left me at the altar for suicide
Right when I vowed to be forever faithful
Life's unfaithful
Unfortunate and unjust
People who were so unmerciful
Just like her, they gave up on us
The friend that you leaned on
The friend you thought was truthful
The unbreakable bond broken
Because even they were unfaithful
Life's unfaithful
My dad said over a glass of wine
Don't be so gullible son
To the point you ignore the signs
I couldn't see my dad and I apart
I was heading back to our boat
Got a call that dropped my heart
Saying my dad drove off the road
I buried him the day of, left it at that
Already dealing with a handful
I don't know what kind of crap
The universe is trying to pull
Pop's your baby boy is through
It appeared God could've cared less
About me holding on to you
So if Life can't be faithful, I'm ripping up
the test, and that's how I became Mr. Faithless
