Anderson
I remembered the day, in1988
That I went rushing down the school street
That just so happened to be the bizarre first day
I met the boy known as Kyle Greely
He was battered and abandoned on the walkway
On his first day at our middle school
All of my friends knew it was none other than Jay
Kyle must have not learned his stupid rules
Hoisting him up, I attempted to brush him off
And I started to remember then
How Jay ganged up on me and threw me in a trough
Because he thought I didn't have friends
I told him "it's alright" and pulled him from the fence.
"You can come hang with me and Suzann
Kyle
I remembered when Anderson introduced me
Her feet glistening in the pink sand
On a serene summer's day on Maple's Street beach
Is when I formally met Suzann
She reminded me of one of those old love poems
She soon became all I thought about
When I was all alone, her face kept me goin'
So I decided to ask her out
Yes, my world was still bleak and Jay still picked on us
But then Sue would take my hand and dance
And suddenly none of that would matter because
I had the sweetest love in Suzann
I told her "I love you no matter what you do,
I'll love you forever my sweet Sue"
Anderson
For I warned Kyle that Sue had a dreaded past,
even though, she played a girl so sweet
I predicted that her love and care would not last
But he was thrown by her kind deceit
Plunging into her universe with open arms
Negative talks he did not permit
He'd suffer the consequences, risking the harm
I brushed it off, not thinking much of it
Words are only words when someone is falling fast
I'd quote, he was a name on a long list
Believe that whenever I saw him, I'd harass
But Kyle would ignore and just throw a fit
Kyle didn't listen, so I let them go with it,
As bad feelings formed in my stomach's pit.
Kyle
Sue knew every detail about me
From my favorite joke, to what I feared most
