🖤Chapter 7🖤

I was finally allowed to leave Finn for the entire two lessons during my lunch break, so I headed to Harley's classroom in the hopes of catching him there.

My hopes came true as I got closer to the doorway. Harley was still assisting a student, so he was facing away from me. I wait for him to finish before quietly knocking and moving to the rear of the room.

"Just finish Questions 3 and 4 tonight and then you should be on track." He encourages to the student while waving goodbye.

He closes the door to the classroom and approaches me, "How was your day with Finn?" He asks with a cute smirk as his head rests on his hands while he leans over the desk.

"It was okay, he really doesn't like you, does he?" As soon as I reveal, Harley's cutesy expression turns worried.

"What did he tell you?" He questions as he makes his way to sit beside me, turning a chair around to sit on it backwards.

I straighten my back and turn to face Harley, hesitant to speak "He says you'll use me like the rest of them. Quote-on-quote 'Add a new doll to your collection,' ." I fidget with my fingers as I look down at the ground.

Harley moves his chair closer to me, and raises my chin to face him. "I'd never do something like that to you. Finn and I haven't gotten along since I dated his ex-girlfriend, so I understand why he's just looking out for you."

That was not what I expected Harley to say; I expected him to become enraged and threaten to kill Finn, but no such luck. Every word he spoke was delivered with calmness.

"You dated his ex? That's low." I tease as I playfully hit his shoulder.

"Hey! I went on two dates with her before calling it quits, I haven't been with anyone since last year." He adds and my eyes go wide.

"Are you talking dating or just in general?" I ask. If I am considering a relationship with this man I need to know more about his dating life.

"I mean a few hook ups here and there but they were ages ago so, yeah, about a year ago. I'm just trying to work on myself and start building my life more... that is until you came along." He says rubbing the back of his neck, he's gone all shy.

I feel my face growing warm and I look at Harley, "I was just going to ask you... What's next?"

"I would be happy to go on a few dates with you Miss Scarlet and get to know you if you don't mind." He beams from the corner of his mouth while shooting me a wink. I feel the butterflies flying rapidly around my stomach as the words hit me.

"S-sure, I'd love to." I stutter and he rests one hand over my thigh immediately sending flames through my body.

"My friend Jesse is throwing a party tonight and we can bring a plus one-"

"I don't go to parties." I interrupt hoping I didn't hurt his feelings.

"Oh... It's only a few of us and I'm pretty sure Cole and Finn are going." He tries to persuade me.

"Okay fine I'll go, but only if Cole is going so I won't be alone when you go talk to your friends." I roll my eyes and Harley's face lights up.

In excitement, he stands and jumps like a child. "I'll pick you up at five o'clock sharp." He says this as he walks over to his desk and grabs a pen and a sticky note to begin writing something. He quickly returns, handing me a small piece of paper with his phone number written on it. I had completely forgotten I didn't have his phone number.

"When you get home, princess, text me." He whispers into my ear before returning to his desk. I look at my watch and realise the bell is about to sound; I'm supposed to spend the rest of the lessons with Cole. At the very least, I can ask him about the party and get his take on Harley.

I enter the performing arts building shortly after the first ring of the bell. I try to navigate my way around to find Cole but am already lost until I feel a slight warm touch on my shoulders causing me to jump in my spot.

"Jesus Christ Cole, you scared the shit out of me." I say turning around to see Cole laughing.

"You're far too easy to scare." He says this as he walks in front of me towards a classroom with a piano next to the teacher's desk, guitars and rainbow ukuleles hung on the walls, and desks and chairs in the middle.

"Wow, everything is so vibrant." Looking up at the colourful instruments, I say.

"Yeah, we did it last year for Pride Month and have kept it that way ever since." He smiles as he walks over to the piano and takes a seat. He played a lovely song that could either put me to sleep or make me feel ten different emotions ranging from happy to sad.

"Since when were you talented?" I joke and he stops playing to turn around and look at me clearly not laughing.

"Ouch." He then joined in laughing just before the class begins to fill up with students, some which I recognised to be in Finns 12th grade English class.

Cole began talking to the class and shorty after, everyone had vanished to practise their music assignment in different rooms of the building leaving me to ask Cole about the party.

"Are you going to Jesse's party tonight?" I ask trying to remember if that was his name.

"Yeah, you know who Jesse is?" He gave me a concerned look.

"No I don't. Harley invited me as a plus one and I said I'd only go if you were."

"I'm assuming he will be picking you up?" Cole raises an eyebrow.

"Yes."

"Then I look forward to seeing you there."
