"Hey, I was about to begin playing music!" Cole yells aggressively over the line.
I sigh and roll my eyes. "I apologise, but this is more important." I give Felix a quick glance before continuing to speak, "How come you never told me you rap?"
"Who told you that?"
"Felix. He also informed me that all of you are talented as hell and I think you should form a band." I speak and I can hear Cole grunting.
"I'm assuming you want to hear me rap?" I could tell he was rolling his eyes as he spoke.
"Yes, that would be fantastic."
I hung up the phone, and the bell rang not long after. I put my phone in my bag and walk to the front of the room, where I meet Felix, who is facing the majority of the dancers who are now sitting on the floor. Soon after, Felix lets the rest of the dancers in, and this time the familiar beauty of Luke enters.
"I apologise for being late." He speaks and walks towards us. I wasn't sure why he was here at first, but I'm guessing he's also a dance instructor.
I nudge him in the arm and point to his hair, which has been dyed a lovely lavender colour that complements his features perfectly. He responds with a smile, and Felix begins talking to the dancers about Luke and what we're doing today.
"This is Mr. Anderson, and he will be guiding you all through Mr. Summers' dance." Felix says, and Luke bows a few times while smiling softly at the dancers. "Luke will help with corrections and techniques, I'll teach the dance if you haven't already learned it, and Miss Scarlet will help with technique and feedback because she knows Mr Summers very well," Felix continues. He emphasised the word 'very' while making direct eye contact with me.
Everyone started dancing with headphones on, while Felix and a few other dancers listened to music through the speakers. Everyone was focused and felt the pressure of Luke's eyes scanning between each dancer. If he noticed someone's feet weren't pointed or showed the wrong facial expression, his brown eyes could almost stab you, and I felt like I didn't even need to be in the room.
While we were admiring the talent in the room, I asked Luke, "How long have you and Hayden been friends?"
He didn't make eye contact with me because he was focused on the students. "I lost count of the number of years." He responds by laughing.
I didn't want to say the wrong thing or hurt anyone in the group, so I didn't ask any other questions, and I can tell he suspected something was up.
"We're not dating." He spoke again, this time more solemnly.
"I didn't think that, I was just curious about the group." I say this in the hopes that the conversation will come to an end.
It certainly did. Luke was quick to approach a boy in the back and spot him while he was performing a move that required him to drop to the ground. I smile at the performance and walk over to a girl who was repeating the same move, which I assumed she was stuck on.
It was time to show Harley after a long and repetitive day of dancing. I was sent out to get Harley before the last class began, while they quickly ran through the dance one more time. I knock on the door before entering to find the lovely man sound asleep in his armchair. As I get closer, his head is tilted up and his mouth is slightly hung open, making me smile in awe.
"Harley?" He slowly opens his eyes as I whisper.
"How long was I gone?" As he sits up in his chair properly, he replies in a low raspy voice that sends chills down my spine.
I lean in and kiss his plump lips before responding, "Not long, the bell just rang."
"So, what exactly are you doing here?" He asks, his voice calm.
"I came to get you because the dancers want to show you something." I try to hide my excitement as I say this.
We enter the room again and notice that all of the dancers are dressed in simple outfits similar to those worn by Harley in the video. He raises an eyebrow as he walks towards Luke and Felix, who are both smiling at the front of the room.
"We'd like to demonstrate something to you." Felix says, then presses a button on a small remote to play music through the loud speakers.
The dance starts, and it's a thousand times better than what I've just seen. Everyone is fierce and in perfect time with one another, hitting every beat of the song. When I look at Harley, his mouth is wide open in shock, and his jaw is practically on the floor. I continue to admire the dancers while laughing at him. I realised how well Luke assisted that one boy for the drop because he executed it flawlessly, and I could see Luke's pride in the boy.
As the dance concludes, applause erupts throughout the room. Harley stood up and told everyone how impressed he was, bowing to the dancers as a thank you.
"Everyone did an outstanding job! Keep those costumes because you'll need them next week when we compete against another school on Friday." Felix exclaims, and everyone cheers.
"Do you want to be a permanent dance teacher with me?" Felix suddenly grabs my arm and whispers.
I got excited right away and wondered if Harley would be okay with it. "I'd love to, but I'd also like to teach English." I walk back over to Harley, who was chatting with Luke. At this point, the dancers had left the room to change and then leave because it was past their home time.
"May I drop you off at home, darling?" I nod in response to Harley's sweet voice. We say our goodbyes to the boys, and I quickly text Cole to let him know he doesn't have to wait for me.
We approach Harley's car, and he opens my door for me, which surprised me at first, but then I realised that he is really putting effort into our relationship this time.
"Would you like to stay for dinner?" I inquire as we neared my and Cole's apartment.
"I'd love to, but I hope Cole doesn't mind." He chuckles, and then falls silent as he concentrates on the road ahead of him.
Silence dominated the space in the car. I am already worn out and tired from today so I found myself sometimes drifting off into a microsleep every time the road was really smooth but woke up as soon as a loud vehicle passed us or the road turned bumpy.
