"Get up, princess." From afar, I hear a raspy voice calling. I open my eyes to see Harley enter the room with a tray full of breakfast.
"What is this for?" I ask this before yawning and sitting up straight. Harley does not respond, but instead approaches the bed and places the tray of food on the bed.
The tray is divided into two sections: mine has French toast, maple syrup, water, and a small bowl of fruit, while his has a protein shake and a bowl of fruit.
"Are you going to eat only that?" I enquire, my gaze shifting back and forth between the fruit and him.
"Yeah, I don't usually eat much at breakfast." He says this in an attempt to end the conversation.
I feel terrible; either he's telling the truth or something is wrong. I decide to brush it off and continue eating my breakfast.
"Did you make this yourself?" Before spooning another mouthful of toast into my mouth, I say.
"That's my mother's recipe." While watching me eat, he says with a smile.
"I'm so full, eat the rest of mine." I say this honestly because there is still one slice of toast on my plate. Harley smiles at me before taking the toast and finishing it. A smile creeps on my face as he enjoys the food.
"What do you intend to do on this beautiful rainy day?" As Harley stands up and takes the tray out to the kitchen, I trail close behind him. I was unaware that it was raining until I look out the massive windows to see it is in fact pouring down.
"Where do you keep your board games?" I question as I assist him in cleaning the dishes.
"I actually don't have any... let's go buy one today." I smile as he suggests.
I finish assisting Harley with his morning chores until we hear a knock on the door, which is Cole.
He's holding an umbrella and a small suitcase, which I'm assuming contains my clothes and toiletries.
"Thank you so much!" I lean in for a hug as Harley takes the bag from his grasp. Cole's eyes were filled with hatred as he scanned Harley's half-naked body.
"Yeah." He mumbles something before hugging me once more and walking back to his car.
I stand in the doorway as I watch him drive off, I can't help but want to cry.
"What's the matter?" Harley turns around and wraps his arms around my waist.
"I think I hurt Cole, and I don't know what to do." I sob and return to Harley's room, closing the door behind us.
"You haven't hurt him. Let's just enjoy our day and then deal with Cole later."
Harley is right. I need to unwind and enjoy my Sunday with him without worrying about work, Cole, or Finn.
I started digging through the suitcase Cole had packed for me and discovered some nice new clothes, jewellery, and even some makeup but of course, no bras or underwear.
"You've got to be joking." Through my teeth, I yell. Cole, being Cole, felt too intrusive to take what I needed most.
"Is everything all right?" Harley rushes in, his hands resting on my shoulders.
"Cole forgot to pack underwear!" I scream angrily, looking at Harley, who is now laughing. "Dickhead, it's not funny." I say, whipping him with a t-shirt.
"I'm sorry. If you need something, I have a brand new pack of underwear that I haven't worn that are very comfortable." He reassures and walks over to his wardrobe, where he pulls out a brand-new packet.
I mumble a thank you before grabbing one from the packet and walking over to his ensuite with a handful of clothes. I start changing and notice that the outfit Cole had packed for me was the same one I wore on our 19th friendship anniversary. Yes, we do celebrate every year with the same routine of taking turns ordering the day's food, binge watching our favourite movies, and eating tubs of ice cream. I smile at the thought; our 20th anniversary is coming up in a few months, and I'm wondering if we'll drift apart because of Harley and Finn. I push those thoughts away and look in the mirror at what I am wearing. I am wearing a plain dark brown cropped t-shirt and some matching brown patterned flare pants.
As I walk out of the bathroom, I wrap a denim jacket around my shoulders and see Harley pulling a white tank top over his body, 'he is perfect in every way.' My thoughts remind me as we lock eye contact.
"You look stunning." He compliments me as he moves closer to me.
"Thank you; you look ravishing yourself."
He rolls his eyes with a smirk before taking my hand and leading me out the door to his car covering us with an umbrella that he held in his other hand.
I had no idea how close he lived to the shops because we were out of the car in less than 5 minutes.
"Aren't you cold?" I say this as a cold breeze runs up the sleeves of my jacket, making me shiver.
"Nope." He responds by placing one hand on my shoulder and gently rubbing my arm to keep me warm.
We enter the main store and make our way to the back of the store, where all of the board games are kept. I look over at Harley, who is clearly interested in a miniature air hockey table, as I scan the children's games.
"I'd like that one!" He demands in a childish tone, reaching up to grab it.
I laugh and nod at him, which causes him to jump up and down and continue his childish behaviour. As we walk out of the shop, Harley begins to explain why he enjoys air hockey; it was his favourite arcade game, which I can relate to. Cole and I would always go to the arcade after school every Friday night and play air hockey first thing. That was a special memory for me because it always made me laugh how many times Cole would buy me ice cream if he lost, and he always lost.
