" i need to go to the nether, for quartz " i told cub as i was opening the door  " cherry keeps going out of stock and i'm running out of comparators! "

Cub chuckled and got up from the sofa " i'll come with you, alright? " he said " the last time you went alone, a ghast knocked you off and plunged you into the lava "

i pouted and said " ghasts are heartless creatures. "  as i stepped outside

" yeah, yeah they really are. " cub said as he followed, squeezing my hand

As we walked to our portal i looked at cub with worry ' what is something happens to cub? '  " are you sure you wanna come with me, cub? What if you died? what if you get seriously hurt? i don't want that for you! " i said, slightly nervous

cub frowned as i finished my sentences " listen, i know you don't want me to get hurt but i don't want you to get hurt either. i love you and you mean everything to me. i don't care if i get hurt or die, as long as you're fine, im fine too " he said in response

I didn't like that he mentioned that he might get hurt, but i hid that. i smiled and squeezed his hand in a reassuring way, though it didn't really calm my nerves  " i can't live without you either, cub. I love you "

cub's expression changed from a serious expression to a soft and loving one. he smiled back and said " i love you too honey "

We continued walking to the portal, talking about random things and opinions. then when we got to the portal, we stepped in the portal and disappeared in the purple particles and reappeared in the nether

As we stepped out on the barren netherrack, i ran forward, dragging cub with me since i forgot to let go of his hand " sorry! "

" no, its okay " cub said with a smile " be careful, okay? "

" okay- " i said as i continued to run around, looking for quartz

" what am i going to do with you? " i heard cub say as i ran, trying to look for quartz

i smiled but continued what i was doing

i grabbed a little bit more quartz and then shouted " okay! I think that's enough quartz for now "  over to cub who was at the bottom on the cliff i was on, mining quartz near the edge of the lava

Cub lifted his head to look at me " we're done? Theres more quartz here " he said pointing to the quartz that he was mining

I shrugged and started to walk down the cliff, i could've jumped down, but i would've totally died, and cub would've been really mad at me if i died

' heh '

I was looking down at where i was standing when i heard a ghast shriek

I immediately ducked and braced for the impact, squeezing my eyes shut.

For it to never come. . .or hit. .

I opened my eyes in time to hear cub scream and see something get thrown into the lava.

It didn't see me. . .it saw. .

Shoot.

I quickly got up and ran down the cliff, i would've almost fell but i didn't care. While i ran down i tried searching for a fire resistance splash potion in my bag. 

I almost ran into the lava but i stopped just before i could slip in the lava, but cub's screams got cut short as soon as i found the potion

I froze as i heard my communicator ding and buzz twice. refusing looking at where cub had just been

It didn't make it better when i realised cub was on his last life and that if he died. . .

oh gosh.

I fell to my knees and started sobbing, if you could call it call it that. My tears evaporated just as they formed. i slowly looked to where cub was. . .as i expected, there was nobody there.

" No. . .no. . " i muttered as i cried, i knew what happened but i didn't want to believe it. How could I believe it? The love of my life just burnt in the lava infront of me, i could never recover from this

I was so lost in grief and despair that. . .i forgot the ghast was there

I was so lost. . .i didn't hear the ghast shriek until i was flung up

everything was like slow-mo

i couldn't even be bothered to scream, its not like anything that heard it could help me.

cub's words earlier rang through my head as i stared at the lava below me.
" i just can't live in a world without you. "

When i fell into the lava. . .it felt. . .welcoming in a way. it burned for a moment. . .but it stopped hurting. it didn't feel like i was burning alive. .

' i guess we really can't live without eachother. . . '  i thought with a sad smile. ' i love you, cub. ' i thought as everything went black
