The snow under his feet crunched as he stepped on it. Looking around the barren AU, Pigment noted the distinct smell of dust in the air, The AU being as quiet as Pigment had expected it to be. The AU was as deserted as one might expect the anti-void to be, which of course meant, completely.
At first glance, anyway.
Nightmare let out a huff, "What the hell is this place?" He grumbled out, shivering slightly as he looked around. Erratum, being the only one of the two of them bothered to respond, said, "ThIs iS KiLleR's AU, It'S baSIcALly jUst AnOTher veRSioN oF tHE plAce We weRE JUst iN" He briefly explained, taking a few steps forward.
Nightmare huffed, before grumbling something unintelligible. Error walked forward, before standing in front of him. He was silent for a moment, before he muttered, "Are we inside a cave? How the hell is it snowing in here?" He questioned, a deeply confused look gracing his face as he tried to comprehend where he was.
Erratum made a face. "aH- weLL, Uh, MaGiC?" He began, making Pigment sigh. He looked over to the four other skeletons, "It's not snowing" He corrected them, "It's dust Erratum. You of all people should recognize that" Pigment muttered, ignoring the blanching faces of Error and Nightmare.
He stared impatiently as Nightmare aggressively tried to swipe the dust off of him, while Blue let out a mortified whisper of, "Jesus". Erratum, oddly, stayed silent at Pigment's reminder, while Error muttered, "There's so much of it. How many people died here?" He frowned as he spoke, and strangely, looked to Pigment instead of Erratum.
Despite the question not being aimed at Erratum, the skeleton replied, "EVeRYonE" he said simply, making the others go silent. Nightmare let out a shaky breath at his words, before composing himself and asking, "How is it doing that?" He inquired; his words quiet for a reason Pigment couldn't understand.
The question caught Pigment off guard. The dust was perfectly normal, it's behaviour alike to any other amalgamation of monster dust Pigment had seen before. He was about to write the question off as another thing Pigment should ignore from the skeleton, when Erratum replied, "MoNstER dUst liKEs TO MovE" Erratum informed them, staring at the dust flowing through the air. "ThEre'S OnLy So MuCH rOom In thE UnDERgROUnD. AfTer a CerTAIN amouNt, It sTart'S to dO... thIs" He added, pointing vaguely in the direction in front of them. Blue let out a sigh, "Of course it does. That makes sense" He grumbled out, looking uncomfortable.
Taking Erratum's words into consideration, Pigment tried to put himself into the shoes of someone who would have never seen monster dust filled with magic. After a moment, he decided he might have described the dust's movements as a dance.
Pigment heard a loud crunch, as if someone had stood on something. He ignored it. Error's face twisted uncomfortably again, "And what-" he began, making Pigment sigh. "Can we hurry up? We shouldn't just be standing here" He muttered impatiently, cutting off the darker skeleton. Error's grimace got worse, but fortunately, he said nothing.
Nightmare however, continued to speak about the topic, "I'm sorry-" Even Pigment could hear the sarcasm in Nightmare's voice as he spoke, "-That not all of us are comfortable with the thought of corpses flying through the air!" He hissed, glaring at Pigment.
He huffed, unappreciative of Nightmare's behaviour towards him. Pigment tightened his grip on the broomie in his hands, "It could be worse" He informed the other, frowning in confusion at the scoff that Nightmare made after.
He wasn't lying, when he said it could be worse. This was rather tame compared to other places he had seen. Three years ago, when Pigment had almost killed Erratum, the dust in the air was so thick that you could barely see anything, and if Pigment was anyone else, he was sure it would have been hard to breathe too.
