Paperjam was in art class. Art was one of his favourite subjects, in fact, It was his second favourite, only being beaten by P.E. Usually, Art would be one of the few subjects he would actually pay attention too, but this time, there was something much more Important.
Emilio Bytte.
Emilio was an enigma to Paperjam. For one, Paperjam had never actually met a someone who didn't have the same type of species as parents, much less one human parent and one skeleton. Paperjam thought they would have made good friends.
If it weren't for the fact that they hated each other.
So, as Paperjam hated Emilio, It was perfectly normal for him to stare at him the whole entire lesson. Definitely.
Well, anyways. The reason he was staring that Emilio was because of his friends; mainly Dust, Killer and Fresh.
Everyone agreed that Emilio was strange. Even Horror, who seemed to be the skeleton's only friend here. So, all of them agreeing to try and find out more about this suspicious Purple haired boy, they were all assigned different tasks.
Well, except Horror, since he didn't like it. they decided to leave him out of it (much to Killer's hesitance), telling him they wouldn't do it.
Paperjam, as you might of guessed, was on 'scout' duty. He simply had to watch Emilio and try and find anything about him. It was probably for the best he had this job, as he doubted he could actually be civil with him.
Well, he didn't mind looking at him, he enjoyed it. Of course, only because he could pick up on things he could make fun of him for later.
Killer was chosen to dig up information. Killer was talking to other people who had talked to, or at least had class with, Emilio, trying to figure out if there were any clues. And later, most likely with someone else, he was going to try and break into the staffroom.
Dust was talking to the teachers. He, In Paperjam's opinion, had the hardest job. All of us knew that Dust should avoid teachers like Mr. Reaper and Mr. Nightmare, so Instead, Dust was told to talk to Teachers such as Mr. Erratum, Mr. Ink, Mr. Blue and Mr. Dream.
Currently, Dust had only talked to the first teacher, Mr. Erratum.
Finally, both Fresh and Undyne were actually trying to talk to Emilio. So far, it hadn't gone well, with them rather only getting grumpy nods, Or sometimes, getting ignored all together.
Paperjam didn't think their end of the plan was going to go far.
Paperjam continued to stare at Emilio, watching the way he played with the loose ends of his hair from his messily tied ponytail, and how the skeleton hastily tapped his pencil on the side of the desk, somehow being quiet enough to not gain the attention of Mr. Ink.
He watched, noticing every time Emilio blinked, and seeing how, unlike what Paperjam thought he would, Emilio payed attention to the lesson. Paperjam found himself noticing that Emilio's worn-out Hoodie seemed slightly bigger than the skeleton himself, and he saw that Emilio's hair looked like it had never been brushed, yet there seemed to be no knots in his hair at all.
Paperjam was thrown out of his trance by Mr. Ink, "Paperjam, are you going to start the work?" Mr. Ink asked. The whole class was silent, now looking at him. Paperjam looked at Mr. Ink, and he noticed that Mr. Ink's voice held a tone that implied that he knew something, but Paperjam decided to ignore it, "Yes, Mr. Ink" Paperjam replied.
The class returned to it's normal volume, and Mr. Ink returned to the front of the classroom. Everything returned to how it was before, almost as if the interaction never happened.
Except that Emilio was now staring at him.
Paperjam internally swore, 'He noticed me looking at him? I should have been less obvious' Paperjam thought. Paperjam avoided eye-contact, looking out of the corner of his eye, hoping Emilio would look away.
He didn't.
Paperjam felt himself heat up, most likely out of embarrassment. How could he mess up that badly? Paperjam saw Mr. Ink walk up to Emilio, and the skeleton finally looked away from Paperjam, in favour of paying attention to the teacher.
Paperjam sighed, for some reason, he didn't like Emilio looking at him like that, or maybe even just looking at him in general.
'I guess it just proves how much I hate him' Paperjam thought, going back to his work. Every so often, Paperjam went back to looking at Emilio, almost as if his eyes were pulled to him, but he always looked away soon after, 'No more spying today' Paperjam thought.
The bell went off, and the students got louder, getting excited for break. "No one's leaving until it's quiet" Mr. Ink said, effectively silencing the students. A few seconds later, Mr. Ink told the students to go, and everyone rushed out of the door.
Paperjam was sitting with Undyne, Fresh, Dust and Killer. "So, have you found anything?" Undyne asked no one in particular. Everyone shook their heads.
There was an awkward silence, before Killer asked, "Are we really gonna do this?" Killer seemed slightly nervous. "What if he's just a normal kid?" He questioned. Paperjam rolled his eyes, "Nah, somethings weird about him" Paperjam stated, "And, plus" Paperjam continued.
Paperjam whispered the next part, "We broke into our teachers home, of course we can do this" Paperjam said confidently. Dust looked at him, "Correction- you did, I didn't do anything like that" Dust practically hissed.
Undyne chuckled, "Calm down Dust" Dust looked away quickly, and started to fiddle with his glasses. Killer sighed, "anyway, when should we do this?" He asked, scratching his skull. Paperjam hummed, "Well, definitely after school" He said, getting an agreement of nods.
"How about next Wednesday?" Undyne asked, "They have the least amount of clubs going on, on that day" Undyne continued. Killer smiled, "yeah, that means the less amount of teachers" Killer realized.
Paperjam nodded, "yeah, and if anyone asks, we can say we're just late to one of our clubs" Paperjam said. "How are we gonna get in there though?" Dust asked. It went silent, everyone thinking.
"Hey" Killer spoke up, "Didn't Cross steal a key from the staffroom?" Killer asked. Dust nodded, his eyes lighting up, "yeah! he stole it from Mr. Reaper, Right?" Dust guessed, getting a nod from Undyne.
"Yeah, when he got it, he kept talking to Lust about it" Undyne said. "Yeah, after it, I remember Lust complaining about 'being an accomplice'" Killer affirmed.
"Do you think he still has it though?" Fresh asked, and Paperjam nodded, "Yeah, unless he lost it" Paperjam explained. Killer nodded, "yeah, you're right" Killer conceded.
"How are we going to contact him though? He's left school, and I don't think anyone here has his phone number, do we?" Fresh asked. Everyone shook their heads. "Hey, wouldn't Lust, have it?" Undyne asked.
Paperjam turned around and searched the cafeteria, looking for the pink skeleton. A few seconds later, He saw Lust, who was looking around the room, most likely looking for somewhere to sit. "Hey! Lust!" Paperjam shouted, startling Lust. "Come here!" Paperjam continued to shout.
Lust hesitantly walked over, "Do you need something, hun?" Lust asked. Paperjam nodded, "yeah, you were friends with Cross, right?" Paperjam questioned. Lust shrugged, "yeah, i guess you could say that, do you need to talk to him?" Lust asked.
Paperjam nodded, "yeah, all of us do, actually" Paperjam stated. Lust looked behind Paperjam, and smiled at them, "Okay, I get it" He said. A few seconds later, Lust gave Paperjam a small piece of Paper. "Don't bother texting him before ten o'clock, he'll still be asleep then" Lust warned Paperjam.
