Jade stayed after everyone left for movie day.

It was late afternoon and she and Sairah were on the couch in the living room together.

"Now we're rewarding people for doing the bare minimum?" Sairah asked with Jade's legs in her lap. The TV was playing the pets on an obstacle course show.

Jade stretched for her can of soda on the centre table. She sipped then put it back. "In her case it's a lot. I mean, she went to that huge party and stayed out of trouble. Come on."

"I mean I guess but a whole get together? Have you lot even decided where you're gonna go yet?" Sairah was eating from a bag of chips.

"Yes. An amusement park after results are out. The Friday after."

"Humph." Sairah just shook her head. "We all know Jesy. She might let that get to her her head and then before we know it, she'll be annoying as hell again."

"I get the feeling that it's hard for her to be overly anxious and concerned with impressing people and being the most important person in the room when she's got chemicals in her that tame her mood. She's just kind of . . . there these days. Kind of like a zombie. Hmm . . . is that good for her?" Jade took some of Sairah's chips.

"If it keeps her out of trouble then yeah." Sairah gave Jade the chips and got another bag from the table.

"Have your acceptance letters come in?"

"Acceptance letters she says." Sairah laughed. "People can get rejected you know."

"Sairah we all know you're getting accepted to every school you applied to." Jade could not wait to show off when they came in. "There are no exceptional unis in this town so you'll have to move." She scratched her cheek. "How will that work?"

"Marcy was killing herself over that the other day." Sairah scrolled through her phone then handed it to Jade.

Jade was looking at Sairah's email. "Ooo." She saw the names of some big schools here. "When did these come in?"

"Just this morning." Sairah turned to the TV briefly. "She was talking about making me do a gap year but I said hell no. Like a gap year to just focus on the business or something since she doesn't think I can handle myself on my own. Psh. Like I'm nine or something."

"You got accepted into all of them." Jade said in awe. "Cambridge, Oxford . . . wow." She could barely get a word out. "Wh-which will you attend?" None of these were close.

"The one my grandparents and Marcy say is best." Sairah didn't really understand the whole university thing. "I mean, they're all just schools but apparently some of them have like a better reputation or whatever."

"You speak so casually about everything." Jade was so happy for her. "We should celebrate."

"How?" Sairah scratched her hand with great focus.

"I don't know. What would you want to do? Have you told Marcy?"

"You're the first person I told." Sairah kept eating.

Jade's heart melted. "Just because I asked?" She paused.

"I was gonna tell you anyway." Sairah rolled her eyes. "You're Jade."

Jade blushed. "Wait what does that mean to you?"

"You know what it means. You're my person. And I'm yours." Sairah winked.

Jade did not . . . "Okay?" She decided to let it go. "How will we do this?"

"Do what?" Sairah's mouth was full.
