"Whoops, I got you, I got you," Seresin piped up, holding Sam, who was using the double bars at physical therapy on Friday evening. She was in rehabilitation for her previously torn, now healed knee cap.
"Never eject from your jet, Jake," she joked around, standing back up and retrying to walk. Hangman laughed and held her back, walking side to side like a crab as Sam attempted it one last time before her session was done. She reached the end without falling and looked over at Seresin.
"I wasn't planning on ever ejecting," he shared a laugh with Sam before the two of them were approached by the doc in charge of physical therapy.
"Lieutenant Commander," the double silver bar Lieutenant doctor spoke up. "You're good to go for the weekend. Take it easy like normal this weekend. We have x-rays on Monday to make sure everything is healing up nice, and there's no other damage. That's scheduled at 0800 and then your next physical therapy is Tuesday, correct? Correct." He checked his board and then looked up at Sam with a smile.
"Thanks, Doc. I'll see you next week then," she said letting go of the bars. Jake grabbed Sam to help her walk. The two headed for the far wall where there were backpacks hanging up. Seresin grabbed Sam's off the wall and slung it around his opposite shoulder, still helping Sam walk out of the building.
"You know I can walk by myself?" Sam asked, laughing.
"Yeah, I know, but it gives me a reason to hold you," he said, smiling big. He walked her to his truck, opening the door and setting her gently on the seat. Sam swung her legs slowly and carefully into the passenger seat. Seresin watched her closely, before kissing her on the cheek, shutting the door, and running over to the driver's side. Once in, he leaned over and kissed Sam once more, then buckled up, and cranked the ignition.
"May I carry you inside?" Seresin asked as Sam opened up her door once they parked in Sam's driveway. She chuckled and took her hand off of the door, looking over at him content.
"Sure, if you want to," she said. Hangman got out all giddy like a child, running over to her side and grabbing her things before grabbing her. He carried her bridal style towards the front door where Sam unlocked it with her keys. The two walked in through the front and headed towards the living room. Jake plopped Sam onto the couch before heading to drop off her backpack in the foyer by the entryway table.
"Do you want a shower?" He asked, walking back to her. Sam felt her hair and jokingly smelled herself.
"Nah, I'm good," she replied. Hangman plopped himself on the couch, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"Then I'm sitting my happy ass down right here," Hangman said, looking at Sam with a shit-eating grin. Sam looked at him and shook her head before giving him a quick kiss.
"Thank you for taking me to physical therapy," Sam said softly. Hangman ran his knuckles on her cheek and kissed her again.
"Thank you for letting me go," he said.
"You can thank Doc for that," Sam laughed.
"Where is your mom at?" Hangman asked, looking behind him. Sam grabbed the remote and turned on the tv, putting whatever she wanted on.
"She's at work. Without Dad here now, she spends her time working just to keep herself busy," Sam replied. Hangman looked back at Sam with a grin.
"So that means we're all alone?" He leaned in giving Sam a kiss on the cheek.
"Jake, I literally have broken bones that are healing. I'm not fucking you," Sam flipped the channel before turning on her apps to find a movie.
"That's not what you said the past several times in the past couple of times," Hangman spoke low and chuckled. Sam look at Jake and rolled her eyes.
"Can we take a break this time?" Sam denied him again. Hangman kissed her once and smiled gently.
"Anything for you, my darling," he whispered and stood up. "Do you want food?"
"What were you thinking?" Sam looked up at him.
"I really want wings," Hangman pulled his phone out and started searching for nearby restaurants. "I'm going to find the biggest order I can get without going tailgating size."
"What? Like eighty wings?" Sam chuckled, watching the TV show she put on.
"If that's what it is, then eighty wings it is."
"That's so many, Jake."
"And I'm a hungry boy."
