I avoided speaking to Snape one-on-one for the next couple of weeks. Snape completely avoided meeting my eyes in class and only spoke to me when absolutely necessary. Every part of myself ached to get his attention but I pushed that impulse away. I didn't want to get in trouble my first year at Hogwarts. Corey and I continued to help each other in potions and we developed a sort of friendship. He was easy to talk to and really kind. I continued to hang around Fred, George, Mack and her friends.

I walked into the common room after a long Friday of classes. Fred and George sat by the fire, with their heads together. Harry, Ron and Hermione sat with them, doing homework. I sat beside George, and the twins looked up at me.

"Go ahead," Fred said as he elbowed George in the ribs. "Ask her."

"Ask me what?" I wondered, looking at George expectantly.
"Fred and I are throwing a small get together tonight," George explained. "We wanted to know if you'd come."

"George was dying to ask you," Fred said with a smirk on his face.

"Sure, where is it?" I asked, ignoring Fred's comment.

"Astrology tower," George told me. "It's usually unlocked because of the evening classes."

"We made an interesting discovery in our third year," Fred continued. "They only lock it up on weekends, even though there isn't a class there every week night."

"We reckon," George took over the explanation, "that they think nobody knows about it."
"Or they just don't care," Fred finished.

"Can we come?" Ron pipped in, having heard our entire conversation.

"Sorry little brother," Fred said. "Only 6th and 7th years allowed."

"Can I invite Mack?" I asked the twins.

"You can bring whoever," Fred answered. "As long as they won't rat us out."

We all went down to dinner together and on our way back, I caught up with Mack to ask if she wanted to come.

"Oooh, yes!" She answered. "That sounds so fun."

Mack and I began getting ready together in our dorm. I had to admit, getting ready with Mack for a party felt so normal and completely kept Snape out of my mind. We did each other's hair and gave our opinions about what to wear. Mack wore a loose-fitted black dress, but with her curves it appeared to be made for her. I chose a long-sleeved v-neck dark green top that was very fitted and revealed part of my stomach, and a black skirt. Mack looked me up and down, and smiled at me.

"Who are you hoping to impress in that?" She asked me.

"No one," I answered honestly. There was no boy I was interested in. Corey was nice to look at, but I couldn't see myself dating him. "I don't like anyone."

"There has to be somebody."

I desperately wanted to tell Mack the truth, that I was attracted to Professor Snape, but how could I do that without her judging me. I just shook my head.

"George seems quite taken with you," she said coyly.

"What are you talking about? We're friends."

"I think he wants a bit more."

"Well, I hope not. I'm not interested."

We made our way to the astrology tower. Most students were in bed as it was almost 11 at night. We were careful not to run into any teachers and got really lucky. We made the climb to the astrology tower. Once at the door, we could hear the base coming from the music being played inside the room. We walked in to find maybe about 50 students huddled in small groups. From what I could see, there weren't any Slytherins. Most of them were Gryffindor, some Hufflepuff and a few Ravenclaws. Bottles of liquor were getting passed around. Fred and George were talking to their friend Lee Jordan, who I had met a couple times, when they noticed us arrive and made their way towards us.
