Allison Argent
Allison woke up in a pretty good mood. Despite everything that had happened over the last couple of weeks, she felt happy. All the good in her life outweighed all the bad in her life. She had her loving father, her best friends, and most importantly the love of her life, Astrid. She was overjoyed to have Astrid in her life. She was so happy and full of life. Allison felt... complete with Astrid. She was really in love with her.
She grabbed her leather jacket, her handbag and headed to the living room where she met up with her father, gave him a kiss on the cheek and said her goodbyes, then left. She hopped in her car, placing her handbag on the passenger seat and drove off. Lydia wanted her to pick her up because her car needed repairs. So she drove ten minutes to Lydia's house where she was waiting outside for her.
Once Lydia was secure in Allison's car, they drove off to the school. Allison was feeling good about today. She wasn't worried about Alex, or Matteo, or Lucas, or even Kinsley. Because she had Astrid. And their love was strong. They could get through anything together. Even a psycho heretic who wanted to turn her girlfriend into an immortal blood-sucker to try win her love and affection. Yep. Nothing can ruin Allison's mood.
Her and Lydia arrived at school. The two girls went to Allison's locker first, chatting and giggling about the most stupidest things. Finally feeling like her life was back to normal. She grabbed her English textbook from her locker and the two girls began walking to their class when Allison was caught off guard. She jumped slightly when she turned around and saw Davina standing right in front of her. She looked... distressed. Like she didn't sleep.
'Hey, Davina...' Lydia said, slowly. 'Are you okay?'
She shook her head. Her eyes dazed away, staring at the ground.
'Davina, what's wrong?'
She looked up at Allison. 'Have you seen Astrid?'
Allison crinkled her forehead. She turned her head to look at Lydia then back at Davina. 'Not since yesterday morning at school. Why? What happened?'
Davina stared at Allison, brows furrowed. 'You mean you didn't see her last night?'
'Was I supposed to?...'
'She left the loft last night saying she was going to help you.'
Allison was speechless. Help me? From what? There was a long breakout of silence between the three girls. Allison's mind was racing. What could have happened to her? It wasn't like Astrid to miss out on school.
'Look,' Lydia started. 'I'm sure she's fine. You know Astrid. She's a good kid. She's probably out... trekking through a bush or something. She does that sometimes.'
'Lydia's right. Look, don't worry.' She put her hands on Davina's shoulders. 'She'll show up soon.' Allison smiled. Davina nodded. She thanked her then left for her class. Allison looked at Lydia. She was right. Astrid's fine. She had to be. Right?
Allison left for English. Trying not to think about Astrid because if something did happen to her, she couldn't bare.
English was one of her favourite subjects. But no matter how interesting it was, she could not focus. She kept stressing. This was one class she had with Astrid. She never missed a single class. So why now? Her mind imagined the most awful situations involving Astrid. What if something really did happen to her? No. She can't think like that.
Allison knew she was with Malia for most of the afternoon yesterday so that was her first step. She found Malia sitting by herself in the cafeteria with a tray of food and her math textbooks along with Lydia's and Astrid's notes. Seeing Astrid's notebook brought tears to Allison's eyes. If she never sees her again...
She sat in the chair opposite her. Malia looked up. She stared and smiled weirdly. 'Hi.' Malia said. 'Is everything okay?'
'Have you seen Astrid at all?'
'Not since she left the hospital yesterday night. Why?'
Allison's throat closed up. 'Davina said she left the loft yesterday and no one has seen her since.'
'I'm sure she's fine. Astrid's a strong girl.'
'Yeah.' She whispered, flicking the hair out of her eyes. 'Yeah, you're probably right.' She stared at the table mumbling inaudible words quietly to herself. She felt Malia's stare on her. She flicked her head up. 'I'm gonna go.' She got up and left.
Allison was stuck in her head. Astrid didn't show up to English. She wasn't at the loft. She definitely didn't go see Allison last night so where could she be? Then she remembered. Phone. She could call her. Why didn't she already think of that?
She stopped in the middle of the school halls, pulled her phone out from her back pocket and dialled Astrid's number. Four rings later, it answered.
'Hello?' It wasn't Astrid. It was a male? She couldn't be cheating... right?
'Who is this?'
'My name's Josh. Who is this?'
Josh. Astrid told Allison about him. The gay guy best friend who was turned into a vampire. She sighed, realising she wasn't cheating. But didn't he live in New Orleans? What was he doing in Beacon Hills?
'Hello? Are you there?'
'Right. Sorry. Um, I'm looking for Astrid. Is she there?'
'No. She left last night. Haven't seen her since.'
Allison's heart sank. 'Okay, thanks.' Her voice broke. She hung up the phone. She sighed and rubbed her forehead, closing her eyes and allowing a single tear to escape. She put her phone back in her pocket and began walking, heading for her locker.
On her way, she bumped into someone. 'Sorry.' Both people said simultaneously. Allison recognised that voice. She looked up and standing in front of her was Kinsley. Suddenly, Allison's mood changed in an instant.
'Well, well, well. It's been a while since our last encounter. Where is your other half... Oh.' She giggled. 'Never mind. I know the answer.' She laughed and barged past her.
Allison turned around. 'Wait, what do you mean?' She paused. Kinsley kept walking. 'What did you do to her?' Kinsley stopped in her steps. Without even a blink of an eye, Kinsley appeared right in front of Allison.
She was startled. She looked around her. She hadn't realised that everyone went to class. She looked back at Kinsley with a deep breath in and lifted her head.
'Don't worry. She's safe.' She paused, looking Allison up and down. 'For now.' She opened her mouth revealing her fangs coming out of her gums, purple-blue veins popping out from around her eyes. Then they disappeared. And she walked off. Leaving Allison by herself.
