'Astrid! Get up, now!' Astrid groaned and flicked her duvet off her head. Then she laid there and stared at the door for a few minutes, then flicked her duvet back over her head.

The door opened. 'Ast...' Derek signed. Astrid's duvet was ripped from her head. 'You have school. Get up.' He said, stern. Then he walked out.

Astrid let out a deep breath of air and threw her blanket off herself

She strode downstairs where she met with Derek cooking in the kitchen and Davina sitting at the table with a plate of waffles in front of her.

'You're up.' Davina said. 'Didn't think you would.' Astrid mockingly laughed at her and sat beside her. Derek came around and placed a plate of waffles in front of Astrid. Astrid sat there staring at her plate.

'You should eat,' Derek said.

Astrid dropped her fork. 'You know you're making us transfer to a new school in the middle of the year, right?'

'Sorry.' He said. 'But you know I had no other choice.'

Astrid lowered her head, grabbed her fork and poked her food, 'mm.' She grumbled.

There was a long moment of silence between the three of them. Then Derek spoke up. 'You two should get going otherwise you'll be late.' Astrid stood, then Davina, both grabbed their school bags that sat on the couch then draped them over their shoulders. As Astrid followed Davina out the door, Derek grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back.

'Please, try make the most of it.' Astrid stared at Derek.

'I'll do my best.' She deadpanned.

He gave her a kiss on the cheek and wished her good luck for her first day of her new high school in her new town, and off she went out the door. She walked over to Davina's car and got into the passenger side. She threw her bag on the floor and put on her seatbelt as Davina stared at her.

'Yes?'

'Everything will be okay.'

Astrid nodded. Then Davina drove off.

When Davina and Astrid arrived at school, she sat in the car and stared out at the school before entering. She hated having to start at a new school. Especially in the middle of the year. But she had to make the best of it. For herself, for Davina, for Derek and for her mum.

She got out of the car where Davina stood waiting for her. 'You ready?' She asked. Astrid looked at her, smiled and nodded. And just like that, the two of them walked in.

When they walked in, Astrid was stunned. She stood by the doors, frozen. There were so many people. So many faces she didn't know. And it was so loud.

'Are you okay?' Davina leaned and whispered to Astrid.

Astrid didn't say anything. She stared out at the large groups of kids walking through the halls of Beacon Hills High and suddenly wished she was back in New Orleans attending Saint Carter's Science and Technology Academy. She was so excited to attend a full year this year. She transferred there the last semester of last year because her teachers knew just how smart she was and wanted her to get the best education she possibly could. Her mum was really proud of her. Sometimes she wishes she could see her mother just one last time.

'Come on,' Davina said as she wrapped her arm around Astrid's. 'Let's go see the principal.' Astrid and Davina set off toward the principal's office. When they turned the corner, someone ran into Astrid, and the books from the person's hands fell to the floor.

'I am so sorry.' Said the voice of a girl. Astrid bent down to help her grab her books. And she stared at her. Woah. She's gorgeous. She handed her books and stared at her as they both stood up. She was a tall, young woman with pale white and lightly freckled skin. She had curly, dark brown hair and brown eyes. She had a similar resemblance to Snow White.
