Ranboo POV

The atmosphere between him and Tubbo had never been more tense. They walked in silence most of the time, wishing their time together away. They were often lost in their own thoughts and memories. But neither of them really tried to show it.

They walked along an old abandoned road, keeping their eyes ahead of them. Ranboo was constantly looking behind them, his worry all over the place. He kept running into Tubbo who kept stopping abruptly. "Will you stop doing that?!" he finally broke the silence.

"Sorry." Tubbo murmured, his head hanging low. He walked past Ranboo, not even waiting to make sure he followed.

Ranboo sighed, running a hand through his hair. He hated this more than anything but the silence made it worse. As much as he despised Tubbo, at least he was company. And he did kind of feel guilty after yelling at him... Before he could change his mind, he spoke up, "I'm sorry... about earlier."

Tubbo looked at him in surprise like he was speaking another language. "Did you just apologize?"

The teen bit his lip, wishing he could take it back. "I..." he shook head, sticking with his original plan. "I'm just really worried about Tommy and I-" he paused, swallowing harshly. "I don't want to let him go."

The brunette nodded, falling into step beside Ranboo. "How... how did you guys meet anyway?" He seemed to be just as sick of the silence.

Ranboo took a deep breath, a soft smile passing through his lips. "We grew up together." He began. He couldn't think of a time when Tommy hadn't been in his life. "My parents weren't always the best. They... they were living on a forced marriage and that lead to a lot of awful arguments. I was embarrassed at first. But Tommy didn't judge me at all. He took me in nearly every night. He... he promised he would never leave my side."

Tubbo listened carefully to every word he said.

"I-I really miss him." he could feel a lump beginning to grow in his throat. He missed his best friend more than anything. "I guess I just always thought he would keep that promise."

"It was out of his control." Tubbo whispered to which Ranboo nodded.

"I don't blame him, I just miss him." Ranboo looked away from Tubbo, wiping the coming tears on his sleeve. He couldn't break down like this. The needed to keep moving so he could get Tubbo home. So he could be alone again...

Tubbo thought for a moment, trying to come up for the right words. "He seemed like a great friend from the time I knew him... Loyal, funny... He's everything a friend should be."

Ranboo took a deep breath. "He was the best friend I could ever have."

Silence shadowed after them, ending their conversation. But the tension seemed to have vanished, replaced with something Ranboo couldn't quite explain.
