Jimin's POV

A week passed from the day I passed out. The day after that, when I opened my eyes, I was laying in between Jungkook's arms, feeling his body heat warming me and chasing the cold away. Even his breath that lightly brushed my skin, which is also one of the reasons why I awoke, was warm.

Where I live, back in town, the temperature never dropped that cold. I should've thought about the weather temperature when we chose Crescent Island to have our vacation.

I haven't been here since I was 12 years old. I must have forgotten how cold it gets during the night. Now that I've thought about it, I remember catching a fever when my family stayed here during a holiday break.

"Any chance of getting to ride a trip down memory lane?" Jungkook queried beside me. At the present moment, Jungkook and I are enjoying the warm heat of the sun while sitting on the white sand. Reveling in the breeze of the wind and the gentle teases of the wave.

A smile tugged at the corners of my lip as I looked at him. "Do you remember when I woke up beside you the day after I passed out?" I began.

He nodded his head. "You even pretended to sleep after I caught you tracing the bridge of my nose." He said, laughing lightly.

"You don't have to be specific. It was mortifying enough for me to sleep next to you, on top of that, right in your arms. I could've lost my mind if it weren't for Ayla barging into my room." I said, hugging my knees closer to my chest.

"She could've come in a lot later." he mumbled, facing away and watching the gentle crash of the wave in the distance.

"Sorry?" I asked as I didn't hear what he said.

"What about that day?" He asked. Was I hearing things? I swear he said something that should've reached my ears. I disregarded my curiosity and decided to pick up on my words from a while ago.

"Well. . . it reminded me of what you said the day before. 'You'll be protected forever.' " I quoted and chuckled. At first, I thought of it as rhetoric, nothing but empty words to comfort and assure me. The phrase was just too convincing than what it really meant. "It was so convincing that I didn't believe it. But waking up in your arms, my fever gone, as if I didn't have it, to begin with. I took back what I said and tried to believe it."

"Tried?" He asked.

I nodded my head. " 'To be protected forever'. It does sound pleasing, but it can't be true. Every life's full of storms, and tragedies are inevitable; there will always come a time when one will reach rock bottom. Life is full of ups and downs, so I don't believe that I will be protected forever." I explained. My eyes traveled down to the sand and caught sight of a half-buried seashell that I picked up.

For a long moment, he was silent. Pondering on my words as he cast his eyes on the sea.

"I appreciate those words, despite how hard it is to believe. And though this is a small thing and probably not of much importance, it was the first time that my fever had gone down that fast. Usually, it would take two days before I fully recover. It took me by surprise when I woke up completely healed." I added. Sounding more enthusiastic than I intended.

He released a soft chuckle as he listened to me. "I could tell by your fast heartbeats that you have recovered fully."

I playfully slapped his shoulder. "You just couldn't last a day without teasing me, can you?"

"You fell off the horse twice when we went horse riding. The others, especially Taehyung and Ayla, laughed at you all day. After your second fall, you didn't want to ride it anymore so you rode with me. You were so awkward at first, though. You were gripping the reins as if you're holding on to dear life." he continued, giving me a bad feeling that he'd go on for hours.
