Jungkook's POV
I sensed Ayla's patience wearing thin as the silence continued to stretch longer.
"Why don't you start asking so we can go home early?" she said, lips upturned to a wry smile.
I took a deep breath and cleared my throat.
"Who are you and what are you?" I could've asked something better but those are the words that came out of my mouth.
"I'm Ayla and I'm a silver-white wolf," she answered.
"Tell me everything about you or at least what I need to know and how you became a wolf," she took a deep breath before starting.
"A hundred and twenty-two years ago, I was born with a crescent birthmark behind my left ear. I was living a normal life with my parents and with other children my age. But normal life was a dream I never thought I'd wake up from."
122 years?! That's how long she's lived?!
I shifted and leaned on the tree, all my attention focused on her as she told her story.
"When I turned sixteen, that's when I transformed into my wolf form. My parents were terrified of me and for weeks they couldn't look me in the eye. They treated me like a stranger living aimlessly in their house. But, I was lucky they came around and accepted me for who I am."
At least she still had her parents with her at that time. I lost mine way before I even became who I am today. But that's better than them watching me become a murderer.
"I stopped going to school and decided to study at home instead. During the full moons. . . I. . . have killed a lot. I never knew an animal so uncontrollable and vicious as I am." She said with a shaky breath.
"The nightmare continued on for years. Of course, the people didn't know who I was but they knew about my wolf. There was a group that planned to kill me to stop the massacre. Of course, they didn't succeed. . . because I killed them all." Her face twisted in hatefulness and remorse.
"Guilt and the lives that I took were eating me slowly. So we decided to move out and live in the woods. Where there are no people, only animals. With the abilities and skills I have, I helped them build our home."
I felt relieved to know that I am really not the only one who's going through this, well, I am the only one who's going through this now because she has gone through them already.
"I thought I could finally live in peace now that there's no human to kill and eat, well, except for my parents. I thought the hunger would stop, but I was wrong— so wrong. Every full moon, I'd still go out to kill, I was ravenous for human flesh and because my parents were the only humans I am near, I knew they wouldn't last long."
Her hands clenched as she took a deep breath and loosened her hand, she leaned on the tree and crossed her arms.
"So I'd run miles away from our home during the full moons. Sooner or later, I taught myself to kill animals instead. Took me more than five years to overcome my hunger for humans. That's how I lived and survived." she turned and looked me straight in the eye. I inhaled deeply and leaned my head on the trunk, looking up at the clear night sky.
"Then, I realized that I don't age, my appearance stayed the same when I turned somewhere in my twenties. My parents died of old age and I lived alone. I began training in the woods, strengthening my physical self and my wolf. Many years later, I decided to move out and move to this town. That's when I met Hoseok, Tae, Jimin, and later on Khalisee. I couldn't say I'm now living a normal life because when I was born, nothing was normal anymore. Then you came and started implanting questions and suspicion in my mind. Now here I am talking to my fellow wolf that almost killed me." She finished.
