Chapter 31: Save Me

Jimin's POV

It was past 12 and I caught Ayla glancing occasionally over Jungkook. She looked like she wanted to talk to him, but she never did and remained in her seat. I can clearly see her worried face, she was concerned about Jungkook.

My eyes turned to Issy whose voice can be heard loudlier than anyone else's.

"Jungkook-oppa! Come here!" Khalisee shouted and led Jungkook to the huge blanket we spread over the grass. Issy pulled Jungkook down to lie down beside her. "Let's take a picture!" She positioned the camera she received as a gift from Jungkook. "1! . . . 2!. . . 3 Cheers!" She then clicked the button and the light flashed.

"It's 'cheese', coffee bean. Not cheers." I corrected. I sat down on the blanket in front of the two who were busy checking the polaroid picture.

"Let her be, uncle." Taehyung teased. "C'mon! Let's take pictures!" he invited. Hoseok walked over to them and lay down beside his boyfriend, wrapping his arms around Taehyung's waist.

I smiled at them before crawling beside Issy who immediately showed me the picture of her and Jungkook smiling widely. Issy's cute eye smile caught my attention but my eyes were pinned on Jungkook's adorable bunny smile and doe eyes that seemed to sparkle when the camera's light flashed.

We huddled together to fit in the camera, but when the picture was taken, some of us weren't in the picture. So Jungkook offered to take our picture instead. My smile faltered a little, I wanted him to be in the picture with all of us as well. It won't be complete without him in it.

He was about to give the camera back when I grabbed it from him, which surprised him.

"Yah! Sit up! We're not done yet!" I told Hoseok and Taehyung who were cuddling together in their own world. "One more time! Jungkook, sit down here." I guided Jungkook in front of Ayla, Hoseok, and Taehyung. "Issy, sit beside Jungkook." Issy followed. But instead of sitting beside him, she sat down in Jungkook's lap who hugged her small body from behind.

"1, 2, 3. . smile!" The camera flashed brightly and took our group picture once again.

I should probably buy a grid board and clip these photos once we get back.

The night continued and we were back sitting around the fire. Issy came to me and told me she wanted to go near the river. At first, I didn't want her to go since it is dangerous. Who knows what'll happen to her if she moves away from the others. There are too many wild creatures in this forest, she could be in danger at any moment and I do not want that.

But I eventually allowed her and told her that I'd go with her.

She held onto my hand as we walked towards the river. I was unsure to continue since it was a little far from our campsite, though our camp is still clearly in sight.

"Issy, aren't we going too far?" I asked in worry. I looked around and saw nothing but trees and the open space of the forest. "This part of the forest is getting darker and I didn't get to bring a flashlight with me."

"Look, uncle!" She tugged my hand, making me look down at her. She looked up at me while pointing something at the grass. I looked at where she was pointing and saw a tiny glowing orb.

Oh, so that's why she's so keen on going here.

"Fireflies!" Issy clapped in excitement displaying her bright smile as she walked to the bushy grass, disturbing the insects that made them appear and fly and glow. I chuckled as I watched Issy trying to capture one of the fireflies that was glowing brighter than the others.

I took my cellphone out and steadied the camera towards my niece. I brightened the brightness so that it wouldn't come out dark.

She looks like a fairy that came out of a storybook, being worshipped by these tiny glowing insects. The fireflies danced around and above her. She lifted her hand and put out her palm, waiting for a firefly to land on it. Her eyes widened and glinted when a baby firefly landed cautiously on her palm.
