"Fuck!"
His vision was hazy and now Jake is apprehensively rechecking all the pockets he has. Yes, he's drunk. Was drunk. And yes, he might have left his fucking keys inside the apartment or he might have lost it somewhere at the party.
"I am an idiot, that I am." he says under his breath.
And just as he thought things could not be any worse, thunder starts rumbling. Jake did not bring anything else, an umbrella or a coat. He's just wearing his casual pants paired with his flannel. Well, he was just at a party having the time of his life, he didn't expect for shit to happen.
He slumps down and sits on the floor beside his door. He opens his phone and tries to text whoever he was with an hour ago that he needs a place to stay.
Rain started pouring. Strong, hard, heavy rain.
"Worst fucking day of my life."
He thought about knocking on his neighbour's door.
The neighbour who so hate him for no reason. The neighbour who gives him weird looks and rolls his eyes whenever they come across each other. The neighbour who is actually his senior and he's supposed to be friends with. The neighbour, Lee Heeseung, prince and pride of the university, a friend to all. But never to him.
Yeah, I won't. I would rather die in this storm.
(Cue in an even louder thunder and rain- as if the gods hated him.)
Jake drags himself to the door a few steps away. He breathes in deep before knocking as if it was the dean's office.
The dean's office would have been a better destination. You know what, never mind. I regret knocki-
The door opens, a Heeseung in gray sweatpants with nothing but his silver necklace on top came into view. His messy wet hair was partially covered with a towel, he smelled of bath soap and shampoo. Jake's breath almost audibly hitches. He had to clear his throat as a way to snap into reality.
Heeseung's facial expression instantly changes. He was expecting anyone but this guy.
This neighbour who was so friendly to everyone. The neighbour who quickly got everyone's attention. The neighbour who approached everyone, but never him. The neighbour, who turned out to be a sophomore transfer student in the same university. The neighbour, Sim Jake, who was so naïve and oblivious.
"What?"
"Uhm... I went to Yeonjun hyung's party and I left my keys inside the apartment or I lost it, I don't really know, and it's raining quite heavily." Jake slowly started, looking down on the floor or whatever was on the ground.
"And?"
"Can you... only if you want to... let me stay for a while?" Jake was now fidgeting with the hem of his flannel.
Shit. I never should have knocked. I feel like I'll be swallowed whole. Why is he so difficult to talk to? I just wanna disappear.
Heeseung moves one arm above his head and rested it on door post, supporting his weight. He breathes out quite loudly, letting Jake know he's not pleased.
"You just had to lose your keys EXACTLY when the landlord's out on vacation? Tell me why I shouldn't think you planned this?"
Jake looked up.
Oh god, he's so tall and his skin looks heavenly and he's so beautiful. I fucking hate him.
"I would never! Why would I do something so fucking stupid that would lead me to ask you for help?" It's true, Jake would never do that when he knows that his gorgeous neighbour would gladly light him on fire.
