A package arrived for Sunoo earlier that afternoon, when they were in the middle of practicing. Sunoo’s eyes lit up when their manager told them, excitedly asking him to put it in the practice lounge so he could open it later.

For the rest of the day, Sunoo had a bounce in his step, smiling more than usual even as they went through the dance routine an extra three times, after Riki pointed out that their blocking was off. When somebody asked what was up, he just shrugged and said he was excited to do a live later that night.

They didn’t think anything of it, and continued practicing as usual.

Hours later, Sunoo opened the package in the lounge inside their practice room, gasping when he unsealed the box. He squealed as he pulled the item out of the delicate packaging. The rest of the members were busy doing their own post-practice routines: Jay was napping on his favorite spot on the sofa, Riki and Heeseung were playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who would get to drink the last carton of banana milk, Jungwon was taking photos to post on Twitter, and Sunghoon and Jake were getting ready to hit the gym.

“Wah,” Sunoo whispered to himself– though everyone in the room had noticed, anyway. It was normal for Sunoo to make excited little noises at the smallest of things, so most of the members paid him no mind. But when the gentle, pretty sound of bells ringing echoed in the otherwise silent room, a few of the boys turned their heads– only to find Sunoo putting a pair of soft, white, fake cat ears over his head.

Jay had stirred at the sound of the bell, eyes cracking open– and then widening, when they landed on the pair of ears on Sunoo’s head. Sunghoon dropped his gym bag, making a heavy thud sound as it hit the ground. Jake was at a loss for words. Heeseung felt his mouth run dry, a million different thoughts running through his head, as he was sure was the same for the rest of the older members. His eyes zeroed in at the ears, and the lace collar that Sunoo was holding between his fingers.

“Isn’t it pretty?” Sunoo asked, tilting his head from side to side. Heeseung glanced, ever-so-cautiously, at the box that Sunoo had discarded. Beneath the layers of pastel tissue paper, he could see there was more inside– but Sunoo seemed to not be uninterested, busy playing with the pale pink collar that also had a bell attached to it.

“Did you order that, Hyung?” Jungwon asked, wide eyes blinking as Sunoo went closer to the mirror, inspecting his reflection with utmost interest.

“Yes! I wanted to wear them on VLive.” Sunoo smiled, fluffing the top of his hair up. He turned to Riki, who was standing next to him, “It’s cute, isn’t it?”

“Sure, Hyung.” Riki replied, clearly not very interested. He picked up his phone and opened his game, the banana milk he and Heeseung were fighting over now in his hand. They never finished the rock-paper-scissors battle, but Heeseung seemed to have conceded anyway, his attention on the box that Sunoo had left on the table.

While Jungwon chatted away with Sunoo, Heeseung had taken the liberty of pulling the box towards him and sifting through the tissue paper– already having an idea of what else would be in it, but not believing it until he saw it with his own eyes.

Soon enough, his finger touched the smooth cardboard surface of another smaller box inside. He poked his tongue against his cheek, noticing that Jay was now peering over his shoulder, clearly just as curious. Heeseung cautioned a glace towards the younger members, and saw that none of them were paying attention. Jay had leaned forward a little, sleepily blinking as he waited for Heeseung to open the box.

Jake and Sunghoon had yet to leave, too. Sunghoon was picking up the contents of his bag that had fallen out– a towel, a pair of gym shoes, and a water bottle that had rolled straight into the foot of the sofa. Jake was scrolling away on his phone, sitting atop one of the tables, but his eyes continued to flit over to Sunoo, who was now– Heeseung huffed, something dark rearing its head inside him, though he didn’t say a single word– meowing , and giggling to himself when Jungwon laughed.
