“Do you feel satisfied with him, Sunoo hyung?” Ni-ki asks him, breaking the silence inside the room, and Sunoo isn’t sure whether he’d be able to answer the younger even if he weren’t looking at him like he’s his next dessert on the menu.
He’s been coming more often to intrude on Sunoo’s study session with Heeseung these days. At first, Sunoo paid him no attention—Heeseung had told him that Ni-ki’s interest in him would wane after a few days, like a little kid drawn to a new toy. Apparently, every new friend Heeseung brought to his home had to deal with his younger brother’s eccentric behavior.
“If you have nothing better to do, please don’t disturb me,” he tells the boy without looking up from his work. Studying for finals is always hard, but Sunoo is determined to cram a semester’s worth of readings into his brain before he can properly enjoy the upcoming winter break with his boyfriend. Still, he hasn’t had a proper rest lately. Between juggling university and his part-time job, sleep for him has become a myth. Unfortunately, working on four hours of sleep would cause his body to slowly but surely internally collapse, which is precisely why he asked for Heeseung’s help to tutor him in his spare time. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone—he gets to have his much-needed quality time with his boyfriend and a personal tutor both at once.
Most of their time is spent like that, with them working side-by-side on their respective tasks or trudging through college homework together. It’s not as bad as Sunoo thought it would be…well, kind of. Sometimes, on the nights when they’re alone especially, Sunoo gets to suck off his boyfriend from under the study table. But then they would always stop once Heeseung finds his release, seemingly satisfied with a rushed blowjob and not even remorseful of the fact that Sunoo is left with an aching hard-on that he has no choice but to deal with alone in the en suite bathroom.
He can’t even complain, really. Sunoo’s already asking too much from Heeseung, considering his boyfriend is a senior busy wrapping up the final stretch of his college life. Next month, Heeseung would be off to law school, dressed in a pinstripe suit, snatching up the internship opportunity like the golden boy that everyone makes him out to be. Meanwhile, Sunoo would still be in university, rushing for his 8 am classes and working overtime in the nearby convenience store just to afford his rent. They’ll be leagues apart, not only in distance but also in the state of their lives.
It’s evident, at least to Sunoo, that Heeseung only agreed to their current arrangement because he had felt quite guilty about not paying attention to him. Another possible reason why he finally brought Sunoo to his apartment after two years of dating.
Heeseung had evaded the topic of his home and anything related to it throughout their relationship. Sunoo had thought that maybe they were just taking things slow since the first time he had asked Heeseung if he could stay over, the older had refused him. But weeks turned into months, which turned into years, and Sunoo has witnessed Heeseung’s friends go back and forth to his apartment apart from him. He didn’t want to suspect Heeseung of anything, but Sunoo also couldn’t stand the rejection he kept receiving. So he confronted the older about the matter and discovered that Heeseung wasn’t trying to hide anything from him. Instead, he was trying to hide Sunoo from his housemate—his younger brother, to be precise.
It took Sunoo’s first visit to the house for him to understand why.
Heeseung had gone to the bathroom, leaving his boyfriend alone in the living room when Sunoo first met Ni-ki. He was sitting on the floor between the big sofa and the coffee table when he heard the door open from the end of the hallway. Sunoo looks up just as the heavy footsteps get nearer, and he catches the blurry afterimage of someone rushing towards the front door. As if sensing a pair of eyes on him, the person skids to a halt and backs up slowly until he’s gazing down at Sunoo on the floor. He blinks owlishly at Sunoo’s figure before breaking into a cheshire grin.
