AND I'M BACK. YESH. I'M ALIVE. CALL OFF YOUR SEARCH PARTY. THOUGH YOU CAN STILL GIVE ME NUTELLA. :D
Skye’s POV:
“What are we going to do today?”
The boys and I were sitting around their couch, finishing breakfast while lazily watching the Top 30 songs of the week. In my opinion, half of them suck monkey balls and shouldn’t exist on any list except for “Songs You Should Avoid at All Times”. But maybe I was just a harsh person. With great music taste.
“Go back to sleep?” suggested Kevin hopefully, quietly tuning one of his guitars. His black/blond hair was still messy from bed.
I actually had a pretty good sleep last night after Shane and I arrived back at their apartment. Perhaps it’s because all my energy was spent on the whole emotional afternoon or whatever. And I felt better after Shane had shared a bit of his life with me. Someone understood. Someone cared.
“Actually, I was thinking we got a bit productive today,” Mike said, standing up and carrying everybody’s plates to the kitchen.
“You’re always being productive,” complained Kevin.
I winced as he strummed an augmented chord. “What do you have in mind, Mike?”
“You’re staying for a while, right?” He sat down again, grinning. “Ned set up another gig for us this afternoon.”
“Where?”
“Downtown, I think. One of the outside stages.”
“That’s cool.”
Shane shook his hair out of his eyes. “What are we going to do until then?”
“Play COD?” Kevin said hopefully.
“No.” Mike got up and plugged in the electric keyboard. “New song idea.” He struck the first few chords of the song, and began with the first few lines.
Sitting on your doorstep, I’ve never
stayed this still for so long
Standing before you, I’ve never
felt something so, so strong
And I know
This ain’t something to just pass by
And I know
You aren’t going to wait forever
But I know
We’re going to make it, you and I
He played a few more bars, and then looked up at us. “What do you think? That’s pretty much all I got so far.”
“Another sappy love song, yay,” said Shane sarcastically.
“You must be feeling the love, eh, Mike?” Kevin waggled his eyebrows at him suggestively.
I tried not to laugh at the way Mike’s face started to turn red. “I think that’s great so far. Though the melody’s kind of… Well, boring.”
Mike didn’t look offended, but more interested. “You think so? All I kept getting was circles, and it’d sound like previous songs.”
I hesitated, not sure I wanted to help him, not because I was a selfish bitch… Well, I was just the shy type of person when it came to original stuff. Then I figured, it’s his song, might as well help him touch it up. “I think maybe if you add a few dominant sevenths, make it sound a bit… I don’t know, brighter.”
