Skye’s POV:

I yawned, eyes half-closed, totally agreeing to falling asleep right there. The teacher could not make psychology any more boring, considering it was the study of how people’s minds’ work and think. And right now, I couldn’t think of anything but sleep.

The guys had been bused home by Ned (…van-ed home?) and my dad was supposed to be back today. (He wasn’t.) So I was stuck in school, trying not to fall asleep, or chuck my textbook at the moron in the front row asking all those stupid questions and making the teacher talk longer.

I was out the door the second the rang, dashing all the way to the other side of the building to my locker. I hated it when my locker was at one end of the school while my classes were all on the other. Jeez. No wonder I was always late.

I took my sweet time throwing my stuff in my locker, wishing the day would GET A MOVE ON ALREADY. I hated Mondays, I did. Shutting my locker, I jumped when I realized there was someone next to me.

“Hey, Skye,” said Sean, smiling at me.

My heart started to pound. God, he looked so perfect, as usual. “Hey, yourself,” I managed, brushing aside a blue strand of my hair. “What’s up?”

“You,” he replied, grinning. Could he get any cuter?! “How was your weekend?”

“Great,” I said. Which was, surprisingly, true. Hanging out with the guys wasn’t really all that bad. Annoying at times, but fun mostly.

“That’s nice,” he said, though I thought I saw a frown flicker across his face. Nah, probably just imagined it. “You were hanging out with those friends of your cousins, right? From New Jersey?”

“Uh--- yeah,” I nodded. Silently, I was cursing at Mike. Seriously, couldn’t he have picked some other place? I’d never even been to the state!

“That’s nice of you,” he said. “Babysitting them?”

“Well, they’re friends of my cousin, so I guess they’re my friends as well.” I shrugged, wondering why I suddenly felt so defensive of the guys.

Sean nodded. “So, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out, with me. Like, we could go to a movie or something. Maybe dinner too?” He looked at me a bit shyly.

I blinked. Was I imagining this, or did Sean just… ask me out? “Like, you and me? Alone? On a… date?”

“Yeah,” he shrugged, looking down at his shoes, blushing slightly. “Just us.” He looked up at me, “It doesn’t have to be a date if you don’t want it to! I mean, I know we don’t know each other as well, but I want to… get to know you better. Because… well, I like you, Skye, and…” he blew out a breath, all flustered. Aww, he was so cute!
