We sang some more songs, until the guys got restless (again) and decided to bug me for one of my own songs. I swear, they were only good at two things: music and annoying the hell out of people. (Three things, I guess if you count being hot, which I don't.)

"No." I shook my head, trying my best to ignore Kevin's puppy dog eyes. Why did god gift him with cute brown eyes?!

"Come on," whined Kevin. "Just one song. We won't laugh, I promise."

        I frowned. "Not helping."

"Skye, you're really talented," Mike said. "I'm sure your songs will be even better than ours. You don't need to worry about anything, we won't say anything if you don't want us to-----"

He shut up abruptly because at that point I'd stepped on his foot, earning a satisfying groan, but I was too busy launching myself after Shane to care. While Mike distracted me with pretty flattery, he'd been slowly inching toward the door, and now was full-on sprinting to my room. I scrambled after him, this being my house an advantage, but man, Shane could move fast.

I burst into my room a second after him, and promptly tackled him to the ground, sending a bunch of stuffed bunnies and books flying off the ground.

“No! You won’t get it!” I yelled, sitting on him while he struggled.

“Gah!” Shane said, trying to push me off. “Dude, you sure know how to wrestle, Skye.”

I stuck my tongue out at him. “So surrender, you useless piece of boy.”

“That doesn’t even make sense,” he pointed out.

“Whatever!” I threw all my weight on him as he started to sit up, and he fell back down with me on top of him.

“Whoa! Are we interrupting something here?” Kevin smirked, raising his pierced eyebrows at our awkward position on the floor.

“Shut up,” Shane and I muttered at the same time. We glanced at each other, and then I sprang off him real quick. Note to self: never tackle a hot boy when he’s after your original songs, especially when a guy like Kevin was around. It’s just not worth it.

“Is this one of your songs?” asked Mike, holding up a piece of paper. He’d brought the guitar upstairs, too.

“NOOOO!!!” I cried, launching myself at him like I’m some kind of star soccer player, but he dodged like a ninja and I slammed onto my bed like a… pillow in a pillow fight? Damn, and I was on a roll, too… “Oof, ugh. Not cool.”

“Let’s see…” Mike strummed some chords. I covered my face, groaning loudly. They ignored me, crowing around Mike like he was Santa-freaking-Claus. He started to sings softly.

Open up your mind, yeah, sing with me

Don’t you wish that, you could believe?

In the light at the end,

The sun around the bend

Take my hand…

I couldn’t take it anymore. “No, that’s wrong!” I snatched the guitar and music, knowing full well that I was acting like a brat, but I didn’t really care. It was my song, dammit.
