Skye’s POV:

I scrambled around my room, tossing my clothes and stuff around. Sean was going to be here soon, and I had no idea what to wear. Yeah. Sad, right? I’d been on other dates before, but I’d crushed on him for so long… It’s just different.

Finally, I decided on a simple blue halter that complimented my figure, and exposed a tiny strip of my bare tummy before my black skinny jeans. To top it off, I threw on a thin grey jacket that I bought at a second-hand store last month. Casual, but nice. Me likey. I just hoped that Sean would like it too.

I was contemplating what to do with my hair when the doorbell rang. “Screw this,” I muttered, running a hand through my streaked hair quickly as I grabbed my bag and hurried down the stairs. I slapped a note on the counter for my dad when he got home, then I went to the door.

Taking a deep breath, I opened it to see Sean smiling at me. He looked hot as always, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, an expensive-looking brown leather jacket. I had to remind myself to breathe.

“Hey, Skye,” he said. “You look great.”

“Thanks,” I said back, “You, too.”

“Ready to go?” He gestured behind him at his car, a sleek silver model from this year.

“Yes,” I grinned. “Let’s go.”

We got out at the movie theatre. There were quite a lot of people there, seeing as it was a Friday.

“I was thinking we go see this one,” Sean suggested, pointing at the latest horror movie. “I heard it’s very good, the graphics are awesome.”

“Oh… great,” I said, forcing a smile. I hated horror movies. I could never watch them. I didn’t know why. I mean, I knew they weren’t real and made no sense, but they just freak the hell out of me all the time. I know, Skye’s afraid of horror movies, shocker, right? But it’s alright this one time. Sean was here. Right?

We bought popcorn and went in to find seats. The previews were showing and people were chatting quietly. Sean led me to some seats towards the middle. We sat down and an awkward silence seemed to fall between us. A group of boys were sitting to our right, all laughing at the preview of yet another movie about evil alien species invading our home planet to wipe us out (starring some hot actors that had lead roles in various other action movies), directed by none other than that Spielberg dude. On our other side a couple were already making out as if the aliens had already invaded long ago. Which made us even more awkward.

“So you like horror movies?” I asked for lack of anything better to say. I reached for some popcorn, hoping to look casual.

“Yeah,” replied Sean. “Don’t you?”
