Mali and Mikey arrive at the hospital and run into the lobby. Joy and David stop them from running.
Davids POV:
"Wait, woah, honey slow down. Where'd do you think your going?"
'Where's Calum? I wanna see him!! Is he ok, Dad?'
"Calum's in surgery. They're going to try and save his liver. Apparently the medications he's on has ruined mostly all of his liver functions. And he may have a spinal cord injury but their not sure yet."
'I need to see Calum. Dad, I need to go in their and see him.'
'Mali, it's going to be ok. Calum is a strong kid.' Michael wrapped his arms around Mali's waist pulling her in and making her rest her head on Michaels shoulder.
'Sit down next to me. He's going to pull through.'
(20 minutes later a surgeon comes out)
"Are you Calum Hood's family?"
David and Joy shot up from their seats.
"Hows my son doing doctor?"
'I'm afraid if we don't get a platelet match Calum will bleed out. Who is the same blood type as him?'
"I am!' Mali shouted.
'Come right this way young lady, and I'll have a nurse take a pint of blood from you. Thank you, for doing this. It'll benefit Calum a lot.'
——————————————
Calum has been in surgery for 2 hours. And so far there hasnt been any updates on his condition. And everybody is worried. Luke was shaking. Mali kept softly sobbing to herself.
( a nurse walks over)
"Hii good evening. I'm Chelsea. Calum is still in surgery and those platelets did the trick. We're not exactly sure why he has low platelets. It can be from all the medications he's currently taking or unfortunately it can be a symptom of leukemia."
'Can I talk to you Chelsea, I'm Cal's sister and I have a few questions for you.'
"Sure thats not a problem. We can go in a private room and talk.'
———————————-
"Whats wrong?"
'A few months back Calum had intense radiation therapy when he wasn't supposed to and I read online that it can cause low platelets. Is that possible? Please dont tell me its leukemia.'
"That is a major possibilty. We'll have to do more blood work to check."
'Can you test to see if the medical marijuana is working?'
"Yes. I'm really sorry about your brother. Fun fact I'm a fan of your brothers band. I know Calum is strong. He'll definately pull through. I'm praying so hard for him."
————————-
1 hour later the same surgeon as before came walking out of the OR with some news.
"Hood family may I speak to you guys for a moment."
'How's Calum?'
"We had to remove some of Calum's liver. That was the only way to save him. He should be fine, now. But my major concern is his cancer. I know as parents it very hard to hear bad news but I think the cancer is spreading. He has symptoms of leukemia. Calum is currently in the ICU, he's in a lot of pain. But at least he's stable. We have him on morphine, blood pressure medication and platelets. We're unfortunately going to have to end his trial with the medical marijuana that is what caused his liver to shut down and stop producing enzymes and filtering the blood. We want to put him back on chemotherapy but we're afraid it'll shut his liver and kidneys down. Calum is going down for xrays and an MRI shortly. And 100% his spine is just bruised and not broken."
Mali's POV:
"After the surgeon was done talking i sighed in relief. It wasnt that bad as aspected it would be. But theres still a small chance that I can loose him. It'll kill me if I ever lost him. On the other hand Michael has been a really big help, he helped me save my brother and I'm very grateful for that. The sicker and weaker he gets the more i think to myself that he might not be able to play another show again. I don't think its the end its only the beginning."
