You walk out of the plane and see a women holding a sign with your name on
it. So you walk over there

"You're y/n?" She asks you and you nod
"Hi, I'm Scarlett" she says while holding out her hand. You shake her hand and smile. You walk to her car in silence.

"So, why did you decide to exchange to America?"
"Well it was an easy decision. The orphanage I used to live at went bankrupt so I either got send to another orphanage or I had to go here"
"I'm happy you chose to spend your time with us. so I have a husband. His name is Colin. And I have 2 kids. Rose who is 7 years old and I have a little baby called cosmo. Rose is really exited to have a new family member"
"That's cute, I've had a lot of experience with younger children so I can help out if you ever need it"
"That's nice of you honey, how come you have so much experience?"
"At the orphanage ages go from 0 to 17 years old, and since I'm one of the older ones i have to take care of the little ones" you say
"That makes sense, how old are you"
"I'm 14, but I'm almost 15"
"When is your birthday?"
"The fifth of March"
"Oh that's in two days right? Il remember that!"
"No please don't- I mean no thank you. I'm not really into birthdays."
"Oh that's alright, I won't then."
"Thank you"
The rest of the ride is silent but Not an awkward silence.
When you arrive at her home and get inside there is a little blonde girl hanging around your waist.

"Your my new sister??" She asks exited
You look at Scarlett confused, but she nods at you and smiles
"I guess so yes, my name is y/n, I bet you are rose arnt you?"
"I AM!" she again says exited.
Then Colin walks in with cosmo in his arms he puts cosmo in Scarlett's arms to meet you but you freeze, directly feeling anxious. You take a few steps back, to protect yourself. But you notice Colin feeling uncomfortable.

"I-I'm sorry, don't take it personal." you ramble
"That's alight kid, we'll get used to this" he smiles and you smile back

"Shall I show you your room?" Scarlett asks you and you nod. Feeling slightly embarrassed.

You follow Scarlett upstairs and walk into a room.

"W-wow this is beautiful. Thank you so much" you thank
"No problem honey"
you smile at her
"Do you need any help unpacking?"
"No thank you, I'll figure things out."
"Okay! Dinner will be in around 1 hour. I'll knock on your door"
"Thank you!"

50 minutes later of unpacking you finally get to your last back, and take out a picture frame. It shows your dad and mom with you standing in the middle.

You don't realize how long you have been staring. You also don't hear the knock on your door and the door opening.

"Y/n?"
You again are to zoned out to hear.
You just stare at the frame.
Scarlett walks closer to you and lays a soft hand on your shoulder making you snap out of your thoughts. You look at her.

"I-I'm sorry, did you say something?" You ask
"No honey, I just wanted to check up on you"
You smile at her
"Are those your parents?"
You nod at her.
"How old where you there?"
"I think- 12ish"
"Do you mind me asking what happened?"
"Uhm- one and a half years ago our house burned down. They died in the fire." You say
"I'm sorry honey. Where you there?"
You nod sadly
"I saw everything"
"And you where 13?"
"Y-yes"
"Can I hug you?" She asks you
"Yeah" you whisper. Scarlett gives you a hug, and releases a few seconds later
"Thank you Scarlett" you say
"Your welcome baby. Let's go downstairs? Food is ready"
"Yeah, oh I almost forgot, I am allergic to cinnamon. I thought I'd let you know"
"Oh yeah, I'll remember that. Good to let me know! We are eating spaghetti"
"Yesss I love spaghetti!" You say exited.

Scarlett puts a hand on your back and guides you downstairs.

You sit down at the dining table.
"Y/n???" You hear a high voice say
"Yes?"
"Soo, what is your favorite color?" Rose asks you
"I love green and blue" you say
"What's yours?"
"Pink!"
"Hmm I thought you where a pink lover" you say giggling receiving giggles back.

After dinner.
"It was delicious, thank you" you thank Collin and Scarlett.
"Your welcome honey" Scarlett says.
"Rose baby, go get ready for bed okay?"
"Okaaay!" She runs away exited
"Y/n, could be talk to you?" Scarlett asks
You nod

The three of you sit down. You at the couch and Collin and Scarlett at the chairs infront of you
"We just wanted to ask how you where doing, and if there was anything we needed to know"
"Uhm- I don't- k-know." You say.
"Could you tell us why you flinched earlier?" Collin asks softly
You shrug your shoulders.
"Honey you can tell us" Scarlett assures you
"A-at my school. T-there was this boy. He was 3 years older than me. M-my father was his fathers Boss. A-and he got fired. They lost their house, and he got mad" you say
"Did he hurt you?"
"E-every day" you say looking down trying to hold back your tears.
"It's alright baby, you can cry. It's no shame" Scarlett says getting up from
Her chair and sitting next to you on the couch wrapping an arm around you.

"Is there anything else we need to know?" She asks you
"N-no fire" you say softly
"Understood." She says rubbing your shoulder.
"I can't think of anything else" you say
"That's alright" Collin says

"When do I start school?" You ask
"You can start Tomorrow, but you can also start later if you want to"
"No I'll start tomorrow" you smile,
"Alright kid"
"Can I go to bed?" You ask
"Are you sure? It's only 8 o'clock ." Collin asks.
"I'm tired" you say
"Yeah that's okay, I'll wake you up from school tomorrow okay?"
"Thank you" you smile.
"Goodnight sweetheart"
"Goodnight."

When you hit your bed you fall asleep almost immediately.

3 o'clock in the night.
"Mommy? Mommy" rose cry's at the side of her parents bed
"Rose? Is that you?" She asks
"Mommy" she cries again
"Baby, what's wrong?"
"Y/n woke me up mommy. I can't sleep anymore" she whines
Scarlett wakes up a bit more after hearing this
"Woke you up? What do you mean honey?"
"She was screaming. I heard it" she says
"Rose baby, stay here okay?"
She nods.

Back to you.
You wake up. It is dark. You get downstairs seeing Collin and Scarlett sitting around a campfire. When suddenly you blink and they are both set on fire. They walk inside, burning the house
'Hi y/n" Collin says
You cry and runs upstairs to look for rose.
'Rose wake up'
'Y/n? Help' she screams. When you look at her she too is on fire. Suddenly they are all infront of you screaming for your help. They're reaching out for you, you try grabbing their hands. But fail. They cry and scream and you just stand there

Scarlett walks into your room and you are crying and screaming and sweating. You are tossing and turning around.

She shakes you
"Y/n? Wake up kid! Wake up come on!" She shakes you harder until you jump up.

You cry hysterically and gasp for air.
Scarlett gets into your bed next to you and holds you.

"Breathe baby, just breathe" she tries.
After a few minutes you have calmed down a bit.
"Pumpkin what happened to you?" She asks
"You- you d-"
"I what honey?"
"You died. Everyone died. You where all on fire and died. I couldn't help you. Just like I couldn't help my parents" you cry
"Oh baby" she strokes your head
"I stood there Scarlett. I just stood there. The fire was in their room. I couldn't move. I watched them scream and cry and I watched them get burned alive. It was terrible" you cry in her arms
"Shhh, we are safe. You are safe baby. It's okay."
You just cry into her arms until you have calmed down again.

"Scarlett?"
"Yes baby?"
"I don't l- I don't want to start school tomorrow. Not yet" you say
She strokes your head and places a soft kiss on you cheek.
"Then we won't be doing that alright?"
You hug her even tighter
"Thank you" you whisper.
"Go to sleep baby" she says
And seconds later you fall asleep.
