On Monday, I pulled into my usual parking spot, but this time there was no Jeremy. I felt relieved, Lilith was sitting in the seat next to me talking about Tyler.

"I am so excited for this afternoon," she said.

"You should be, I am actually going with Nathan to the sushi restaurant-" I stopped myself mid sentence.

"Wait, I am going to Sushi with Tyler too right after school," she said.

"I completely forgot, I am so sorry I was on edge with the unknown number thing," That was not a lie, I was barely able to sleep last night thinking about who it was. It could not have been my brother, his friend got sick so he didn't go.

She grabbed her backpack and stormed out of the car.

"Lilith-" I called out.

"What do you want?" She asked.

"You couldn't have told me? I would have asked Tyler to get burgers instead! No offense, but I don't want my best friend with me on my first date," she yelled.

I get what she is saying and I am mad at myself, but I have never heard Lilith speak to me like that.

"What the hell, why are you talking down to me like I'm a child?

"I swear you always mess everything up," she yelled.

"I am sorry I am such an inconvenience to you," I yelled, I never yell but I was fuming.

"Who was there when Anthony broke your heart, who was there when you needed it. ME because I wanted to be there, I wanted to help you because you are my best friend." I continued.

"F*ck you," she said as she flipped me off.

She ran into school, I went back to sit in my car and I put my head on the steering wheel. I felt a few tears fall. I accidentally pressed down on the horn and it rang out. I fell out of my pity and felt immediate embarrassment.

"Nathan?" I asked.

He walked over to me, "Hey Destiny," he said with a warm smile on his face.

"You go to school here? I thought you lived out of town," I asked.

"Yeah, you never noticed me?" he said jokingly.

I laughed.

"Don't sweat it, I moved in just over a month ago," he said.

"Oh okay," I said.

"I can walk you to class," he said with a tint of nervousness.

"Sure,"

"Your hair is really pretty," he said.

"Thank you," I replied.

I dye my hair all the time and right now it is brown with platinum blonde in the front.

When we hung out at the mall we got along really well, but at school everything just felt so stiff.

"Um, do we have any classes together?" I asked.

"Can I see your schedule?" He asked.

I sent him my schedule and he sent me his.

"We only have lunch together," I said with slight disappointment.

At lunch I saw Lilith sitting with Bliss, Melody and Tyler. I ignored her and went to find Nathan. He was sitting by himself.

"Hey," I said as I put my lunch down.

"Hello," he said with that warm smile on his face that brightens up my whole day.

"Can we get a raincheck on sushi, or go somewhere else?"

"What happened?" He asked.

"My friend and I are in a fight and she is going on a date there," I explained.

"Oh, I'm sorry," he replied.

"The tulip field opens in 3 weeks if you want to go?"

"Of course," I said with a smile.

It had been a week since I started having lunch with Nathan. Lilith and I still haven't talked. I messaged her but she didn't respond. Part of me thought there was more to her anger than she had said. I had been retracing my steps but I wished she would just text me.

On a better note, Nathan and I have gotten to know each other really well, he is the only person I talk to right now and the same goes for him.

"Hey, hey," I said as I carried my lunch tray to the table.

"Hey," He said with a smile that made me blush. Throughout the entire week, I had noticed small details about him. When he is nervous his nose crinkles just a little bit. He is really good at writing. He is kind, soft when he speaks to me. I want to know more about him, who he was.

He had his lunch tray in front of him which had an apple, turkey sandwich and fruit.

"How was class?" he asked me.

"I actually liked it today, we started writing an essay," I told him.

"I know who much you love writing essays," he said. I love the way he remembers what I tell him.

"How were your classes?" I asked.

"Boring, My brother ended up making us thirty minutes late and then someone rear ended me which made us even later," he explained.

How late did you end up being then?"

"Like 2 hours late," he said.

"Damn," I said as I ate my sandwich.

"Want my apple?" I asked him,

"Yeah, you can have my orange," he replied.

I know trading lunches is something elementary kids do but I don't care.

Most people don't know anything about me. First hand they think I am shy and b*tchy, because I only talk to Lilith. Someone actually came up to me and told me that in 6th grade when the mean girls really started to shed their light. Somehow Nathan pays attention to every detail, he knows how much I love to play guitar, and how I like to joke even when I know I am not funny. He knows how much I like science and how I want to be a Biologist. He even knows that my celebrity crush is Tom Holland, which only Lilith knew. He brings it up to show that he remembers, he cares.

"Can you meet me at the mall after my shift?" Nathan asked me as he leaned up against the locker next to mine.

"Sure, what time?"

"10,"

"I'll be there," I said.

"Have fun at Biology," he said with a smile.
