When I Saw You I Felt...

Messy Bun

My phone dinged and we lost eye contact, I tried to get off the monkey bars gracefully, but I ended up falling. I saw a smile form on Nathan, and not the douchebag kind but the soft gentle kind. I looked at my phone and I saw another message from another unknown number, I felt a shiver come over me. I didn't bother to read what it wrote, I just turned off my phone.

I turn around to see Nathan on top of the monkey bars. "What's wrong?" He asked me.

I guess he can tell something is wrong probably by my face. I am probably easy to read to him.

"I just keep getting messages from this unknown number," I said to him.

I normally would be scared to be outside in public with something like this going on, but with Nathan I feel safe. I climbed up to the top of the monkey bars with him, I sat cross legged a foot away from him. I looked him in the eyes and he touched my cheek, I felt butterflies everywhere. I move and put my forehead up to his. I felt warm and safe at that moment, like I didn't want to go home.

I embraced him and I let a few silent tears fall as my head was on his shoulder. HIs arms wrap around my back tighter as if he knew I was upset. I grab the back of his head and I feel his hair in between my fingers.

"Thank you," I said to him.

I was thanking him not for one thing but for all of it. If it weren't for Nathan, I would have been an emotional wreck. I lost my best friend, and she was dating my ex who was trying to plot some kind of revenge on me. I hadn't even fully processed that yet, I was with Nathan all my attention was on that.

Nathan's POV

Destiny was upset, I could tell. I mean her best friend walked in dating her ex-boyfriend. I hugged her tighter. She needed me, I could feel it.

"You okay?" I asked her.

"Yeah, Just a crazy day," she replied.

She looked at me in the eyes and backed up a little bit and smiled at me. Her phone started ringing, and we lost eye contact.

She picked up the phone and said, "Hello Dad,"

There was a small moment of silence and then she said, "Yeah, I'll be home as soon as I can."

"I gotta go, my dad wants me," she said as she grabbed her bag.

We both climbed down from the monkey bars and got into the car, I told her my address and we drove off.

Destiny's POV

I drove up into Nathan's Driveway, we only live 2 neighborhoods away. I looked at him and kissed him on the cheek.

"Bye," he said with a big smile.

"See you tomorrow," I said.

He got out of the car and smiled at me as he walked into his house.

My dad seemed to really want me, I don't really have a curfew but It was almost 11:00. I was still mad at him, but I'll come home when he wants me too.

I walked into my house and I saw chestnut brown hair pulled up into a messy bun and a familiar voice.

"Dad, I'm home," I said to him and I took off my shoes and hung up my bag.

I walked into the kitchen and the woman turned around. I immediately recognized who it was.

"Mom?"
