When I Saw You I Felt...

Mall Rats

Celeste and I were really getting along, maybe I finally had a friend. I had to go to the mall with Bliss and Nathan had a shift. I walked over to my car and Nathan was already leaning up against it.

"Can I talk to you?" he asked before I got into the car. Why does my life have so much drama?

"Yeah sure," I said as I got into my car. What did he want to talk about? What did I do wrong?

"After work?" He asked.

"Um, sure," I replied. Great, now I have to wait. He didn't sound upset or mad so that was good.

We were both going to the mall, Nathan had work and I was meeting up with Bliss. I am not a mall rat. I hardly ever go there but Bliss wanted to.

I got out of the car, gave Nathan an awkward smile, and we walked in separate directions. I saw Celeste's mom drop her off on the curb of the mall entrance. She waved to her mom and smiled as she began to walk in the mall.

"Hey," I said as I caught up to her.

"Oh, hey," she said.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her.

"My mom gave me some money to buy clothes for school," she explained.

"Want to hang out with us? I'm meeting up with my friend Bliss," I said with a gentle smile.

"I don't want to interrupt."

"I promise it's fine." I insisted.

"Okay then," she said with a smile. We began walking to Bliss.

"Hey Bliss, this is my friend Celeste."

"Oh hi, I am glad you're hanging out with us," she said genuinely as she put her phone in her bag. This proves that she is not here to use me.

"Where to first?" I asked.

"Hollister?" Celeste suggested.

Bliss, Celeste and I were getting along really well. Celeste had gotten everything she wanted in two stores. Bliss got a top, and I got a couple accessories. We walked into a makeup shop and they were offering makeovers for free.

"Oh, we should totally do this." I said as I pointed to the small sign.

"We should get really colorful makeup," bliss suggested.

"Yes!' Celeste chimed in.

"Hello Ladies, would you like a makeover?" I heard a young lady ask as she approached us.

"Yes," all three of us said at once.

The same employee told me she would be doing my makeup as Celeste and Bliss sat in separate chairs on the other side of the store.

"Colorful or Natural?"

"Colorful, orange and light blue eyes"

"Great," She said as she got out all of the supplies. She took a package of clean brushes and got to work.

She had finished the makeover and showed me what it looked like. I had orange inner eyes and blue outer eyes with white eyeliner on the top and bottom of my eyelids in a wing. She had put glitter blush on my cheeks. I loved it so much. I went over to see Celeste and Bliss, they had the same designs but bliss had purple and pink and Celeste had red and yellow.

"Look at us," I said as I walked over to them. Bliss took out her phone and took a group selfie with the three of us. Her phone case was black with gold glitter. My makeup matched my outfit, I was wearing a light blue cardigan with orange butterflies.

"Wait Celeste give us your number, please," I asked.

She put it in our phones, Bliss, made a group chat and sent us the selfie.

"Shoot, my mom is here, see you guys at school tomorrow."

"I got to go eat dinner," Bliss said.

"Oh alright, bye!"

I made my way to the food court to wait for Nathan.

When I got down to the pretzel place he had just put his apron away.

"Wow, I love your makeup." he said as he walked next to me.

"Thank you," I said with a bright smile. Everytime he compliments me I get all gushy. I completely forgot that he wanted to talk to me. Oh wait, now I am thinking about it.

It was sunset and the sky looked like cotton candy which made the lighting have a pink hue. Nathan sat in the passenger's seat of my car. He looked over to me as I buckled my seat belt.

"I wanted to ask you something," Nathan blurted out.

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to be...official?" He asked me as the nervousness in his voice began to spread.
