A police officer escorted me to my car. "Your name?" He asked me.
"Destiny Hale,"
"What is your relationship to Mr.Melcook?" he asked in a serious manner. I had to pause and think on that one for a second but I came to a conclusion: the safe one.
"I'm- I'm his friend," I said nervously which I truly was, I know Nathan did nothing wrong.
"It is your option if you would like to go down to the station," he stated.
"I would like to," I replied.
I got into my car and he followed me. Talk about really having to really follow the traffic laws.

When we got to the station, I was brought into the chief's office. It was bland and boring like any other police station. There was a gold plaque that read: Chief Champlane. The desk just had a computer and a picture of the chief's family. I sat at the chair in front of his desk while I waited, I was fidgeting my fingers, not knowing what to expect. It was 6 a.m now and I was still in my pajamas and my hair was in a messy ponytail. It was around 60 minutes later when the chief came in with a coffee, "Here this is for you," he said as he put the coffee in front of me.
"Thank you," I replied.
"So we have a bit of a problem here, Nathan's parents are the ones who called the cops on him, he won't need bail so you don't need to worry about that. But they are claiming he was aggressive towards their son Tyler," he started. That name struck a nerve in my head. Why did that name sound so familiar?
"Nathan claims that Tyler hit him, he has a real bruise on his face and arms,"
I nodded my head.
"We are going to have to question his parents and his brother, but as of now we do not believe him to have been aggressive. If we get his brother to confess then this won't need to be taken to court. If you could possibly keep him away from his family today, that would be best for him mentally and psychically," Chief Champlane stated.
"I can do that," I said. Chief Champlane seemed nice like he genuinely cared.

It was around 12:00 p.m when Nathan finally got out of the station, he left right before his family came in. When we finally got in my car he exhaled."Well that was a morning," he said tiredly.
My phone was dead so I plugged it in, and there were missed calls and missed messages from my dad and brother.
"Um, I gotta call my dad to make up an excuse of why I won't be home then we can do whatever," I said as I messaged my dad and told him I am fine.
I called my Dad and he picked up on the first ring.
"Destiny, where are you? I almost marked you as a missing person!" He didn't yell, he just sounded nervous.
"I went to the store to get girl stuff and then my friend called and said that she really needed me, because her boyfriend broke up with her-" and before I could finish the sentence he cut me off.
'Oh, you're fine, just tell me next time," he said calmly. Why was my dad not mad? He would have been so pissed at me usually I would be grounded for days. I think he feels guilty.
"Alright, where to now?" Nathan asked.
"How about the beach?" I asked.
"Sounds good," for some reason though I had gotten any sleep, I wasn't tired, probably because I napped right after school yesterday until like 9:00.
The beach was about an hour and a half away but I wanted to get as far away as I could from the problems Nathan had to face. I wanted to help him, like he has helped me.
I looked over to Nathan and he was asleep.

When we had arrived at the beach, Nathan had already woken up. Nobody was there so it was easy to find a parking spot. I got out of the car at the same time as Nathan and we walked over to the steps without saying a word. I guess there still was that elephant in the room.
It was low tide so there was plenty of beach, I sat down on the damp sand and Nathan sat next to me. He had been very quiet but I knew there were reasons for that.
Out of nowhere I heard him say, "People are assholes,"
"They are," I agreed and then I heard myself, did we accidentally just call each other assholes?
"Wait, wait, not you," he said as he laughed and his normal Nathan voice. Something switched inside of him and at least some of Nathan was back. I felt it would be stupid if I said the same thing, but he knew I meant it.
I stood up and took off my shoes, "Let's go for a walk," I said. I grabbed his hand and helped him up even though he didn't need it. I walked with my shoes in one hand and his hand in the other. One of the things I hate most in the world is sand in my shoes.
I felt some of the very cold water splash on me and I turned around to see Nathan. "Sorry," he said with a fake shrug. I splashed him back. I could tell he was somehow flirting, or maybe he was just flirting. He walked up and put his lips close to mine, then he backed up and splashed me again. He came over and actually kissed me, I put my arms on his shoulders and he put his on my waists. He deepened the kiss.
My phone kept vibrating in my pocket. Someone would call me to hang up and call me again. I think Nathan noticed it too. I broke away and took out my phone and showed it to him. Lilith would call me then Jeremy, but they were both blocked.
( this isn't going to turn scary, its just to cause more drama lol)
