(April 20th)
I had dark brown hair dye in my hair, and I was sitting on the couch scrolling through my phone. I saw an email notification from Dartmouth, the college I applied for. I opened the email on my laptop and screamed.
"Destiny, who died?" My brother asked as he walked downstairs.
"Nobody died," I said excitedly.
"I got accepted into Dartmouth!" I squealed.
"That's amazing!" My brother said as he high fived me.
My dad came out of his office and Samantha came in from gardening in the backyard.
"What happened?" My dad asked grumpily.
"I got accepted into Dartmouth," I squealed again. Dartmouth has always been my dream school, I got into the Biology program. I was so happy, my mind was spinning in so many directions.
"Congrats, an Ivy League, that's amazing." My dad said with the slightest bit of emotion in his voice.
"That's amazing, Destiny," Samantha said as she approached me for a hug. Unlike my dad, she had a lot of emotion in her voice, like she was genuinely proud.
I smiled brightly, as I accepted her hug. Maybe her and I will get along.

After everyone had settled down, I went in my room and messaged Nathan and asked him if I could come over.
I went downstairs and decided I wanted to be a good person. I walked out of the black sliding back door to Samantha potting some pink tulips.
"Can I help?" I asked, I still had thirty minutes left until I had to wash out the hair dye.
"Of course, thank you," Samantha said gently. I think lately I have learned that I should try to adjust to all the changes in my life. I put on gardening gloves and began putting dirt into a new pot. Samantha passed me a purple tulip and I covered it in dirt.
The entire thirty minutes neither of us spoke.

I was blow drying my new dark brown hair, when Nathan finally messaged me back. "Of course." I smiled and turned off the blow dryer.
I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled, I love changing my hair.
I put on my shoes, grabbed my keys and left the house.
***
I knocked on the door of my mother's apartment and Nathan looked at me with a smile.
"Love the new hair," I felt butterflies in my stomach as I kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you." My mom was not home, she was over at her girlfriend's house.
Nathan took a bite of a yellow apple, as he leaned against the kitchen counter.
"Guess what?" I asked as I sat at the barstool.
"What?" Nathan said as he smirked.
"I got into Dartmouth," I blurted out. A smile formed on his face.
"That's amazing!" Nathan said as he came from behind me and wrapped his arms around me.
"Congratulations!" he added. I turned around and kissed him.
"I got into MIT" he said casually.
"What?!" I asked as I looked at him in the eyes with my hands on his shoulders.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" I asked.
"I just found out." He said with a laugh.
"Congratulations!" It's only a two hour drive, it shouldn't be too bad...
***
I was doodling in a notebook on Nathan's desk and he was scrolling through his phone on his nicely made bed, with green sheets. I looked at what I had just created, it looked like a dragon-dinosaur mixed with a chicken. I giggled a little bit and showed Nathan.
"What such an artist," he said sarcastically.
"I know right," I said as I sat next to him. He put his arm around me and I stalked what he was doing on his phone.
He didn't mind, he had nothing to hide. I put my head on his shoulder, till I eventually fell asleep.
****
I gently opened my eyes, to see Nathan also sleeping. I checked the time on my phone: 10 P.M. I tried to go back to sleep but Nathan woke up. He rubbed his eyes, and smiled down at me. He held my face in his hands and kissed me. I deepened the kiss, my hands in his hair. He put his hands on my waist and smiled as he continued to kiss me. When I am with Nathan, I feel like I am somebody.
A calm couple of chapters that means conflict is coming >:)
