drabble || taiju's birthday!

Hey loves! I hope you're all well!

Ummmm ITS TAIJU'S BIRTHDAY! I actually like him now, so I figured, why not write for him! It's a little short though since motivation was not happening😂

Also, we're almost at 100k reads?? WHAT?! I-I don't know what to say. That's freakyyy

I'm not sure if I will, but maybe I'll do a little something for 100k! We'll see, but if you have suggestions, let me know <3

'I told you Y/n, I just don't do birthdays! I never have and never will! So don't worry 'bout gifts, or parties, or cakes or any of that shit. I. don't. care!'

That was what Taiju told you every time you asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday. No matter what, he'd turn down any celebration. Whether it was a party, or just simply going out to eat; he always said no.

However, deep down you knew he wanted to do a little something. He always looked a little down at the thought of not doing anything to celebrate, again. A glimmer of disappointment appeared in his eyes when no one would bring up his birthday. And dare I say, you even saw a frown a couple of times when he said no.

It was just so clear that he wants to do something! Unfortunately, Taiju himself didn't believe he deserved a birthday of any sort, so he always said no, despite wanting the opposite...

Of course, as his s/o, you decided to take it into your hands! Though, even you weren't exactly sure what to do. You didn't want to do too much, because Taiju would without a doubt hate that, but he most definitely deserved a little something.

So, when Mitsuya approached you a few days prior and told you Luna and Mana wanted to give Taiju something, you had an amazing idea...

Why not plan a little picnic with the Mitsuya's? Luna and Mana loved Taiju, and Taiju loved them, so why not do something small with them? You'd also get to exchange gifts and Taiju would get blow out his birthday cake (courtesy of Mitsuya who knows how to bake much better than you).

Of course, Mitsuya thought this was a great idea and agreed. So, on the day of Taiju's birthday, you asked him to meet you at the park, while secretly, you walked with the Mitsuya's to meet him. Of course, the moment Luna and Mana laid eyes on him they got excited and ran ahead along with his gift.

"Taiju-chan!"

"Tai tai!", the girls yelled while they excitedly ran up to Taiju, who was casually sitting on bench. You could see a look of surprise come onto his face as the kids approached him and excitedly handed him the gift. You and Mitsuya both stayed behind and grinned while watching the adorable interaction. Taiju carefully inspected the gift (which he was very much so not expecting) while Luna and Mana both kept yelling at him to open it.

Of course, after enough yelling, he carefully opened the gift which held an adorable little stuffed animal that Luna and Mana both asked Mitsuya to make. It was a dark blue lion that, "looks exactly like Tai tai". The soft lion looked tiny in Taiju's, but at the same time, fit him perfectly. Although Taiju only quietly muttered a 'Thank you', you could see from the smile on his face that he loved the little lion. It would be something he'd always treasure.

Not long after, Luna and Mana began beckoning you and Mitsuya out, begging to have some lunch. While Mitsuya walked over with Luna and Mana to set up the picnic, you sat beside Taiju, who watched them curiously.

"Happy birthday, babe" you whispered, laying your head on his broad shoulder.

"Thanks Y/n, thanks a lot"

"Of course!", you giggled. "Now let's go over to Mitsuya and eat. Luna and Mana won't want to wait for cake much longer"

"Yeah, yeah" Taiju muttered, as you dragged him along. The younger Mitsuya girls were excitedly jumping up and down, pulling Taiju next to them, while you peacefully sat in the shade.

Luna and Mana, of course, argued over who would get to sit next to Taiju. And it was only after Mitsuya intervened that Taiju got to sit down in between the two of them. He sighed, and reached to grab a cracker, only to get his hand slapped by you.

"We're still waiting for someone" you said.

"Wha-"

"Sorry we're late!!!!" Hakkai yelled, dashing towards all of you. Yuzuha quickly trailed him, yelling something about not running. Taiju however, looked shocked. He just couldn't believe it. After everything he's done, his sibling still came here to celebrate with him? He truly couldn't believe his eyes, but here they were, right in front of him, yelling happy birthday to him.

He couldn't help but smile at it all. From Luna and Mana begging for cake, to Hakkai screaming happy birthday, he couldn't believe it. For once he was in a happy, peaceful atmosphere. One where he didn't have to watch his back, one where people weren't looking up in fear, one where the love of his life was in front of him.

He was happy. And this birthday, was the happiest.
