Superiority

If I'll be asked one thing about what I don't like in the community I am in, that is the concept of superiority and how it is associated to what we call respect.

It's sad that people's definition of respect is based upon superiority. We gain and give respect based on our status in the society and not because of humility.

For instance, if two persons ask for assistance, the first is a chief director of a company and the second is a vendor of spices, most likely it's the former whom we usually prioritize. Even if we say the latter's situation is an emergency response, status in the society still matters. Some of us are even giving a special treatment to the former over the latter. What's hurtful sometimes is how we disrespect people for being poor. Society created a principle that once you are poor, you are worthless and invaluable. The attitude we show towards them is indeed a sign of arrogance and ignorance.

The longer I live, the more I realize the importance of character, attitude, and manners. No matter how educated, how wealthy, how powerful your family lineage or how smart you believe you are, how you treat people says it all. Even if you have thousands of wordly achievements, still, you can never become noble through superiority.

Superiority can never lead you to success. Because success is build up by good moral and noble character.

Remember, the only accepted form of superiority is being superior to your former self.
