-Dr. DeLuca, are you okay? He said in a confusion between astonishment and panic
- "he was her attacker!"

- "of what?" Conor asked.
- "I need to call Lieutenant Decker."
She had gotten out of bed and retrieved her phone from the table next to Maya's bed and looked for Chloe in her contacts.
- "Hello, Lieutenant Decker?" said the sleepy voice on the phone
- "I know who the man is who assaulted her"
The lieutenant looked at the origin of the call on her phone, "Doctor DeLuca?"
- "yes sorry I don't even know what time it is!"
- "a little over four hours," Conor told her.
- "oh my god, I'm sorry Lieutenant"
- "no worries, I told you to reach me at any time of the day or night"
- "I know who the man is who assaulted Maya"
- "how so?"
-"I was approached in a bar at Joe's last night and the man gave me a strange feeling... And I just remembered, I've seen him a lot recently and that was even before Maya's assault."
- "Okay, okay, Carina I'm going to come to the hospital. I'll be there in 30 minutes, is that okay with you?"
- "yes, I'm waiting for you"
- "will you be in your office?"
- "no, in Maya's room"
-"I'll see you in a few" Lieutenant Decker replied before hanging up.
- "thank you Conor, and I'm sorry"
- "No worries Dr. DeLuca, I'll go back to the corridor, I'll wait for Lieutenant Decker's arrival"
-"thanks" she said with a sincere smile on her face.
Once the door was closed, she turned to Maya.
- "sorry love, I think I've put a serious chock in your ribs."
She lifted the sheet and Maya's blouse, she directed the light of her phone on Maya's belly.
-"shit, I'm sorry my love" A new bruise had already formed next to the others, which were now yellow-purple. She then ran her fingers over it, touching it, before placing a kiss on it and pressing the button to call the nurse.
Within seconds, Nurse Ashley Collins had arrived.
- "Is there anything I can do, Dr. DeLuca?"
- "Ashley, please call me by my first name when I'm not in pink scrub, I'm just like any other patient family here."
- "except that families of patients don't sleep and stay in the hospital all night."
-"You make a good point... Do you have an ice pack please?"
- "what happened?"
-"I... I slept with Maya and... I hit her... She already has a bruise."
-"Carina! We have already discussed this... We have to be careful... Especially since she is in this stage, she can feel pain"
