the family is the most important thing in the world

On Saturday, March nineteenth, Maya had been at work for a bit early in the day. She hadn't particularly enjoyed having to take three days off for her concussion, even though she'd had an amazing time, including the best day of her life. She had just been doing paperwork.
She came home a little after one o'clock and found her wife in the living room working out.
- "you know I have a whole gym, pretty well equipped at the firehouse?"
- "I used to come here, before you were attacked, but I don't know I just... Stopped."
- "why?"
- "at first because of your amnesia, even though we were more or less dating... I didn't want it to be weird... And then I just kept going, making my sport here"
- "so now that we're married, you can come back to the barracks and do your sports... And then maybe we can do some together..."
-"I'm not allowed to say we're married... And for sports, I prefer that we do together... the one we practice with less clothes"
- "I find you a bit grumpy Dr. DeLuca-Bishop"
- "It's almost two o'clock and you've been gone for eight and a half hours this morning"
- "It is barely twenty past one, Madam Italian ..."
- "oh you mean I'm exaggerating too"
-"... And it was not for pleasure, there was a need, I missed three days"
- "do you regret it?"
- "not marrying you or my March seventeen. But I have a hard enough time letting go when it's a planned absence, so here... Unplanned ..."
- "What are you going to do about our honeymoon? Or a vacation? Or when you're on parental leave?"
- "planned, planned and planned. Honeymoon, I'd have more important things to think about, vacation, we'd probably be busy and parental leave, I'd probably be too tired to think about at the barracks."
- "are you planning on getting up at night and everything?"
- "yes of course. Were you planning to breastfeed?"
- "I don't know, I think so... We'll have to get a breast pump, so you can give the bottle and I can be independent. But yes I think I want to breastfeed. But half bottle, half breast"
- "Fuck..." Maya said suddenly with her eyes in the dark
- "What?!" asked her worried wife.
- "no, but I couldn't... I mean, you know... Your breasts, they won't be mine anymore, and I'll have to watch our child do what I couldn't do."
- "you will be able... But at your own risk" laughed the Italian.
- "stop it, it's not funny, I like your breasts"
- "and they love having your mouth on them"
- "but I can't anymore"
- "if you just go around... Maybe it should be okay... But..."
- "but I don't want to have to restrict myself, I couldn't even take them in my hands at will, without risking you coming out of the milk"
-"hence the breast pump Bambina! And I can assure you that breastfeeding will not be a pleasure... I'd rather have your hands and mouth on it, than those of a little being, who's going to squeeze it with his little nails and chew it as if it were chewing gum..."
