21- But There Is A Light

Luke and Anakin stood in a defensive stance against the newly discovered sith lord. Chancellor Palpatine stood in front of the two Jedi unbothered by the blades pointed at them. He awaited Anakins answer to his previous question. 'Are you going to kill me?'

"I would certainly like to" Anakin said, his hand tightened on his weapon.

"I know you would. I can feel your anger. It gives you focus, makes you stronger." Palpatine said.

"No it doesn't" Luke spat.

Anakin raises his lightsaber to Palpatine's throat. There is a tense moment, then Anakin relaxes, and then turns off his lightsaber.

"I am going to turn you over to the Jedi Council." Anakin said.

"No, You should kill him now" Luke said.

Anakin shot a glance at Luke, "Its not the jedi way".

"Of course you should. But you're not sure of their intentions, are you? What if I am right and they are plotting to take over the Republic?" Palpatine said

"Anakin don't listen to him" Luke said, grabbing Anakins sleeve to make him look at him.

Anakin paused.

"If he is your father why do you call him by his name?" Palpatine said, "Because of the jedi and their order. Anakin even if you have your children... they wouldn't be trained and the truth would come out. How does that make you feel?".

Luke looked at Anakin sharply.

"I-I... well maybe.." Anakin said.

"The plan was to turn him to the darkside" Luke said, "That was your plan for me".

"You're strong with the force. You both are and the power you would have. If you would even consider listening to me, you'd be able to save your wife." Palpatine said and walked over to his desk, "its your choice really".

Anakin switched his lightsaber off.

"Anakin..." Luke said.

"What.... if he's right?" Anakin asked.

"Then I wouldn't be here" Luke said.

Anakin nodded, "watch him I have to call someone from the council".

"You are making a mistake Anakin" Palpatine said.

"You don't get to talk anymore" Anakin said, "I've listened to your lies more than I should have".

"What if I'm right? They don't trust you" Palpatine said.

Anakin walked away opening a hologram.

"Just know Skywalker..... That there is always.... a Plan. B" Palpatine said. He gave an evil smile with his yellow teeth.

"What do you mean?" Luke asked, his eyes narrowing.

"I have been watching Anakin grow and train since he was just a boy, but i have also watched someone else in those times. Someone very close to him" Palpatine said.

"You speak of Padme?" Luke asked.

"Padmes insight comes from the children in her womb. Shes could not be turned because theres nothing to turn. I speak of someone else. Someone who has lost so much. A brother, his parents, his master and the love of his life" Palpatine said.

Luke squinted his eyes and looked at Palpatine,"Your plan has failed, your highness. All your words are useless now".

"Today was the day" Palpatine said, "When I give do not give an order, My droid armies will attack Obi-Wan Kenobi and his clones."
