It was that time of month again, and no, not that time of the month. I mean more of the Lunar cycle time of the month.
You couldn't do much to help your uncle Remus since your father forbids you and Harry from ever involving yourselves in these situations. You understood his intentions but every full moon always left the both of you on edge.
There was always that worrying thought in the back of your mind that your father and uncle might end up severely injured after a night out. But they always return back with only a few scratches.
Your dad used to joke to your mother about how the scars made him look more attractive. He had quite a lot of them, acquiring them over the years, many were from the first wizarding war and a few from nights like these.
So there you were in the common room, trying to resolve the anxiety that was only getting worse by the hour. You were deeply considering the thought of becoming an animagus like your parents and uncles but you knew you didn't have enough skills to do that yet.
"You should head upstairs, love. It's nearly 2 am." Fred yawned out from beside you. His eyes were starting to droop from his sleepiness.
You let out a sigh knowing you can't do anything to help them. Another thing is that your friends don't know anything about Remus's condition since it wasn't your place to tell them.
You chuckled a nervous laughter, "yeah I know, just a little jittery for tomorrow's test, you know." You lied.
Fred saw right through you, "bullshit, something else is on your mind." He patted the seat next to him and moved aside.
You sighed and reluctantly sat next to him, slumping in your seat as you did so.
He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, "Come on, let it out."
You gave a thin lipped smile knowing you couldn't tell him, "It's nothing, seriously. Everything's just up in the air right now with tests and that grim omen."
Fred let out a sigh, he understood what you were talking about but he knew that wasn't the real reason on why you were anxious. He's seen you cram for an exam 5 minutes before it was meant to happen. You've survived worse and fought the impossible and still won. He knew that wasn't the truth.
He didn't want to push you any further. Especially if it was something really sensitive for you so he dropped it.
"It's getting really late, you should go up. I'll just be down here and revise some notes." You lied as you pulled out some parchment from your pouch. You didn't want to lie but you had to so Fred could finally get some sleep.
Fred looked at you a little longer, checking if you were telling the truth but he honestly couldn't focus that well since he was barely awake.
He nodded, "Okay." He reluctantly got up from the couch and began leaning down and pressing a kiss on your head. "Don't stay up too late, okay? Good night, love." And just like that, he went upstairs without another word.
While you were left there speechless and probably as red as the common room walls.
Did he really just kiss me? Sure it was on the head...BUT STILL!!
You managed to keep your feelings for him a secret for some time now but he's making things harder for you. It didn't help that he was with you almost 24/7. You lingered on the thought of actually telling him one of these days. You were trying to convince yourself that maybe, just maybe. He held feelings for you. But a part of you still felt too scared to actually tell him.
