LA CORSA
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
-
FAYE didn't know where she was going. But she knew she wasn't going to stick around to find out what that mean, nasty, lady wanted with her. Shoving her way past the guards, she ran down the hallway that she entered, recounting her steps back to her room. Making her way in, she locked the door and dove for her bathroom, locking that door too, just in case.
Silence.
Only the sound of her labored breathing and the gentle thump of the music in the distance was heard. She heard footsteps pass her room, making her gasp and cover her mouth in fear. Tears fell from her eyes, not slow enough for her to wipe them. The continuous stream of tears and stress caused her a headache, making her close her eyes in relief. The lull of the gentle music in the distance combined with her overwhelming headache caused her to drift off to sleep.
"Faye? Sweetheart, are you in there?" A gentle knock and a feminine voice awoke her from her sleep. She was curled on the floor, the lights still left on. Faye groaned and wiped her face, sitting up. "Honey, open the door," the feminine voice repeated.
What if it's the mean lady, what if she finally found me? Faye thought.
Not taking any chances, she remained silent, waiting for the person to leave. Hearing hushed voices and whispers behind the door alerted her the woman wasn't alone.
"Faye, it's okay, you can come out, it's Celin-,"
"FAYE?" Another voice cut through the woman's voice, much louder. Deeper. Male. Deimos. "Faye, come out, baby, c'mere," a knock was on the door. "It's okay, it's Deimos."
Deimos stood on the other side of the door, noticing it was locked. Had he known she wouldn't open the door, he would've burst it down. But, he knew his girl better than anything and he knew she would open it.
Faye, deeming there to be no threat if Deimos truly was outside, slowly walked towards the door. Opening it, she noticed the four people standing there. Celine, Divine, Divine's Mate, and Deimos.
Deimos.
Launching herself towards him, she clung to him like a monkey. Tears streamed down her face again as she hid her face in his neck. Deimos quickly wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly to his body.
"My baby," he whispered, pressing a kiss against her temple. "All is okay, I'm here." Brushing his hand down her hair, he continued to soothe her until she calmed more than she was.
Celine, Divine, and the other man stood patiently, waiting for Faye to feel better. Faye unraveled herself from his neck, looking down at the others who were waiting.
"Hi," Divine waved quietly. "Are you feeling better?"
Divine's Mate held her hand tightly, an almost (minus personal appearances) identical look to Deimos and Faye. Faye nodded and looked at Celine who looked at the girl with much sadness.
"Baby, can you tell me what happened?" Deimos held onto her tightly.
Faye whimpered and shook her head, hiding back in his neck.
"We'll give you some space," Celine whispered, patting his shoulder as she followed Divine and her Mate out.
Faye clung tightly to Deimos as he sat down on the bed, bouncing slightly.
"Mia luna e stelle, cosa ti ha ferito (my moon and stars, what has hurt you?)", Deimos whispered. "Please tell me why you are so upset, baby. Tell me what I can do to make it better."
Faye whimpered and shook her head. "She's mad."
Deimos held her tighter. "Who, sweetheart, who is mad?"
"The lady," she whispered.
"The one in the party?"
"Uh-huh," she confirmed. Deimos knew who she was talking about as he was quickly filled in by Divine on his way back to his room, in a quest to find his runaway Mate.
"Baby, you don't have to worry about a thing. Don't worry about her, I will take care of it, hm."
Reassuring her, he let her cool down, sitting relaxed on his lap with her nose in his neck to keep taking in his scent as it relaxed her.
"C'mon," he whispered, taking her into the bathroom. Wetting a washcloth, he gently rubbed her eyes, attempting to soothe the swell from her swollen eyes after crying. He cooed at his small baby, noticing her eyelids flutter shut in exhaustion.
"Big day for my little girl, huh?" He cooed, making her blush in embarrassment. "It's okay, I'm here to take care of you."
He quickly undressed her from her formal dress into a much lighter sleeping gown. He stripped himself and followed her right into the bed, letting her curl up tightly against his chest as he lay on his side.
"I love you so much," he whispered, brushing her hair out of her eyes.
Faye blushed and smiled, opening her eyes in admiration. "I love you too."
Deimos leaned in and stole a sweet kiss from her lips, gently reminding her of his love and constant protection.
"I love you so much, my star. Get some rest and tomorrow will come along and be perfect."
And with a kiss pressed between her eyebrows, she drifted off onto a much more peaceful slumber (than the bathroom floor), with her Mate by her side and kept all warm.
