Chapter 32 - New Experience

Cai Fei sat cross-legged in her room. Her left hand held a book she was slowly reading through while her right hand subconsciously stroked the hair of the fox-like woman's head in her lap.

The peaceful scene had repeated itself many times in the previous month. For the first week of Hu'er's visits, they'd chatted and Cai Fei had learned quite a bit about the fox demon and Shao Yue's past exploits. When they ran out of things to talk about, Hu'er would laze about and demand to be petted, sometimes in her fox form, sometimes in her human form.

Hu'er's hair and fur were both exceptionally soft. Cai Fei enjoyed the sensation and didn't mind.

Shao Yue had once described Hu'er as 'harmlessly evil.' Cai Fei agreed with that assessment. The fox demon, despite being sapient for several hundred years, still had the temperament of a preteen.

Cai Fei did have some affection for Hu'er, but more along the lines of what one would feel for a pet or niece. Nothing near what she felt for Shao Yue, which she still hadn't figured out fully.

"It's been a month," Hu'er said, stirring and glancing up. "Are you still not going to dual cultivate with Yue?"

"Dual cultivate?" Cai Fei looked down at the fox demon with suspicion plain on her face.

"Dual cultivation is a very fast form of cultivation, but it can only be done while having sex," Hu'er explained.

"It's too early for sex," Cai Fei said, returning her focus to the book. "We only kissed a month ago."

"Humans have weird rules."

"The first time you do something, it's a special memory," Cai Fei said, flipping a page. "If you do everything at once, then you'll only fondly remember one time. It's better to have many good times to remember."

"Hmm." Hu'er nodded. "So that's why you wanted to wait a year before letting me kiss you."

"I'm waiting a year so I know whether I want you to kiss me!" Cai Fei roughly rubbed the space between Hu'er's ears, causing the fox demon to whine.

"Am I not cute enough for you?"

Cai Fei simply ignored the Spirit, having explained herself too many times already. "Oh, I remember Yue mentioned that you liked playing tag?"

Hu'er nodded several times. "Yes! Though, we don't have much space in the house. If you found a Form Shroud Cloak, we could play."

"A Form Shroud Cloak?"

"It's a common mid-grade treasure. It hides the wearer's appearance and aura. With that, I could go outside with you!"

"I see." Cai Fei nodded. "I'll ask Yue about it."

Any suggestion Hu'er made, Cai Fei would ask Shao Yue about first to ensure it wouldn't have evil side effects. Shao Yue confirmed that a Form Shroud Cloak would be harmless and gave Cai Fei enough spirit stones to purchase one, though it took two weeks to acquire.

When Hu'er put it on, it fell flat around her body. No trace of her tails or pointed ears could be seen. It was even a bit difficult to tell she was female. The opening of the hood had a black barrier within it, hiding her face.

"Impressive," Cai Fei praised.

"Only Heavenly Realm experts will be able to see me!" Hu'er's voice was unaffected by the cloak. "We'll be able to avoid attention now."

"People will still pay attention to a mysterious cloaked person," Cai Fei said, shaking her head. "But at least it will be curiosity instead of alarm."

"Let's go play!"
