Cai Fei returned to Rainbow Mist Peak five years after her tribulation.
The Rainbow Mist Peak now had as many Emperors as the rest of the world combined. The world had the Martial Emperor, Steel Emperor, Thunder Emperor, Night Emperor, and Blood Emperor, while they had the Star Empress, Sword Empress, Deep Empress, Liezhu who refused any title, and now the Shadow Empress.
Preparations began for Cai Fei's ascendance ceremony.
"Would you like to have the wedding during the ceremony?" Shao Yue asked. "Or just have it with the residents of our peak?"
"Hmm."
Cai Fei hadn't really thought about it. Did she want to make it a big event, or a smaller, more personal one?
"Let's keep it within the peak."
"Sure. Then, should we have it before or after the ceremony?"
"The sooner the better."
Shao Yue laughed. "I thought you'd say that. Let's hold it in a year, then, to give everyone time to prepare."
When the disciples heard the news, Peng Fuyi was the most excited. She immediately began drafting ideas for their wedding attire. Everyone else began their own preparations, whether preparing gifts or thinking of things to add to the event.
Meanwhile, Cai Fei found Liezhu. "Liezhu, can cultivators make accurate divinations?"
"Sometimes. Shenyu's pretty good at it. I guess in this strange world it might be easier, especially if you have the right Spirit. Why do you ask?"
"No reason, just curiosity." Cai Fei raised a hand and flexed her fingers. "Also, since returning, I feel like my strength has risen by like, twenty to thirty percent."
"Well, that's obviously because you're near Shao Yue, Miss Shadow. Since your Dao is related to supporting her, you'll be at your best while supporting her."
"Hmm." Cai Fei crossed her arms and grew pensive. "Does that mean any time I leave Yue, I'll be weakened?"
"Nah, if she gives you a goal, it's still supporting her. Like, if she told you, 'go out and kill the Blood Emperor,' you'd be at full strength while fighting him even if she didn't come with you. But, after killing him, you'd lose a bit since you accomplished your mission."
"Strange."
Her Dao had some nuances she hadn't expected. As time went on, she would refine it and learn more about it, similar to resonating with her Spirit.
"Hey, Shao Yue," Liezhu called. "Get out here."
Shao Yue arrived shortly after. "What is it?"
"Order Fei to not die."
"Huh?" Shao Yue blinked at the strange request.
Liezhu pointed at Cai Fei. "Because of her Dao, she's at her best when either near you or following your orders. If you order her not to die, she'll get a power boost in life-or-death situations."
"How strange," Shao Yue said, echoing Cai Fei's sentiment. She thought about it, then turned to Cai Fei. "I think it goes without saying, but whatever happens, wherever you are, do your best to always come back to me alive, okay? Even if I have the puppet, I don't want to lose either of you. Safety first, no matter what."
Cai Fei nodded. "I understand. I can't make any promises, but I absolutely don't want our time together to come to an end, ever."
"Okay, okay," Liezhu said, waving a hand. "Take your flirting somewhere else, preferably where I can't see it."
